Jumped in at the deep end with IoW festival this weekend and it was such a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone, including acts and even most of the staff/traders just seemed so grateful to be there.

App with all the set times is now available

Just in case anyone needs some fuel thrown on the fire; this performance is largely responsible for me getting into Queens of the Stone Age, and festivals really:
A friend of mine came back from Reading 05 and showed me this clip, tight then I knew that I wanted to see the band ASAP and be at Reading in 06
It wouldn't be in my top 20 songs of theirs now but I always enjoy revisiting this clip.

It's good to see the Victorious blimp flying over Southsea again!

All aboard the hype train for QotSA on Other.
Last time round was probably my favourite QotSA gigs and one of my favourite festival slots ever. More than happy to do it again with a few more albums in the bag. I would see Billie but with that clash.

Southampton so a Monday night for me. I'm hoping that I'm working from home on the Tuesday to be honest!

Nice.
Yeah I got a few no problem. Looking forward to it!

Love the first album, what state are they in these days? I'm aware of the first round of line up changes...
It's been a couple of years since I've seen them (and it was at a festival) but they know that a lot of people love the first album and it was reflected in their setlist. TBH I have seen them a few times and am not aware of line up changes as there has always been a few years in between but they've never disappointed.

More abrasive soundscapey techno with strong metal influences from SCALPING. Not for everyone but I like it.

Random q - it says online that the campsite closes at 1am each night. Presumably that means no re-entry after then? Or does it mean it’s just not manned then or something like that?
Basically trying to work out if going to bars post-gig is feasible, or if we’d be locked out of the campsite.
This was what @deadpheasant heard a few weeks ago; looks like you'll get in fine.

Ooops missed the posted video above. That Jagger and Grohl song is awful

Ed Sheeran busked for years before he got his big break.
I wonder if acts that don't get paid for their appearances should be able to pass the hat around the crowd after to cover their costs at least? (This isn't a question directly aimed at @nikkic but the busking point made me think)
I saw one of those motorcycle wall of death things at bestival once and they encouraged people to make contributions at the end of their performances; a hundred people putting in the small change in their pockets every hour must have more than covered the fuel, insurance etc. Whether or not they had permission from the festival to ask for donations is another question.

Black Honey are playing the Wedge in the Autumn and tickets are still on sale. It's not impossible but it would surprise me if they choose to play Victorious too.
@deadpheasant <20 min walk to City Centre or Albert Road areas, even less to Osbourne Road (almost right outside the main entrance to the festival).
I'd personally recommend Albert or Osbourne Road over Guildhall Walk (which is in the city centre and can tend to be a bit rougher). The former 2 have a decent amount of pubs and bars that will be open late.

This is stunning. I didn't realise I needed it this morning. It might be on repeat a few times before going elsewhere.

Pushing the boundaries of the definition of 'new' but received the White Stripes greatest hits record that came out today and it's sounding pretty lush on a sunny Friday afternoon.

EP from Teen Daze is a lovely place to start this morning. Nice chilled ambient goodness

This is lovely, new EP April 1st.

As expected no new direction for Foo Fighters; still sounding like an AC/DC shandy but still does what it tries to do. Even more material to add to their 'all night long' 2 1/2 hour setlists.

If last train home is missed I try and find a casino and have a couple of slow beers as far away from the table as I can get, tends to be open until the trains start again
