  1. They should do a Glastonbury advent calendar. Reveal one act every day in December, including one headliner on Christmas Day

  3. I've not listened to the album personally yet but do we think there may be some bias going into the first listen based upon his antics? Is it difficult to review the album with a completely open mind, not taking the run up to release into consideration? Or is the album as mediocre as some reviews suggest?
  4. Kanye probably thinks it's out of 5
  5. Absolutely zero checks at Clapham Common on Sunday, not in my queue, at least. Huge Police presence around the perimeter though. Regarding sound levels, if you're going to an urban festival at Clapham Common, Victoria Park or Finsbury Park, you should definitely expect it to be lower than you'd like. It fluctuated a bit on Sunday, right across the event but I certainly didn't experience it the way that I'm reading about on social media
  6. The terrible weather hasn't helped, I'm sure this is a key factor. It's been the most dreary and cold August I can ever recall. Ironic how last year was beautiful and everything was under restriction! Life goes that way sometimes, doesn't it? Keeping it festival-related, I've noticed so much negativity (particularly in the comments sections of social media) around events that have taken place. Some of it absolutely justified (long queues for bars and toilets, toilets in a terrible state, poor COVID provisions, anti-social behaviour, lack of refunds) but some very harsh (lineup drop-outs and replacements, lack of staff, etc), to say the least. Back in January, we would have given anything to be able to dance in a field and although it's not felt as free as usual, we got that chance from July onwards. Most organisations have done their best under difficult circumstances but I do concede that there are a few less established promoters who looked to capitalise on the demand, post-lockdown. But are we too entitled these days? Are we that complacent that we forgot exactly where we were six months ago? Does social media give people a platform to complain regardless? Is the comments section a good barometer for the success of an event? I've only managed to get to a few events this year but I've thoroughly enjoyed them but that doesn't seem to be a universal opinion. I even wonder if Glastonbury went ahead, if there wouldn't be thousands of complaints about this, that or the other. That's the general theme I'll take away from the "Summer of Freedom". The negativity.
  7. Interesting to see this taking shape. Seems like The Park is not necessarily the preferred stage for headlining acts

  9. Went to RTRN II DANCE at Clapham Common yesterday. Had a fun time, mostly in the tents (as much as I love DnB, it's much better in a more intimate setting rather than a huge stage), Dillinja and Bou stood out. The queues for the bars were off the charts insane. Ridiculously bad. Didn't affect me personally but there's no way I could have queued in it. Absolutely terrible, not sure why? Lack of staff? Never seen queues so bad in over 20 years of festivals. That bad.

  15. There's not really a need to make an announcement yet, is there? It's sold out, they still have Worthy Pastures bookings and the Abbey gig to focus on, then I'll guess they'll want to take a break for a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if the teatime slot is announced before the end of the year though

  17. Another reminder for us to go and see these legends play live as much as we can. One day, there won't be any left from such a wonderful era. I do hope I get to see the Stones play just one more time. Been fortunate to have seen them half a dozen times but the last show in Cardiff a few years ago was absolutely incredible. I just kept shaking my head of how they still had so much energy to produce that kind of show. I still get chills thinking about the glorious crescendo of Midnight Rambler.

  19. In the hour leading up to their set in 2013, I'd never felt an atmosphere like that at Glastonbury, not before or since. I'd not really experienced the feeling (of the criminally overused cliche) of the air being "electric"...until then. I knew we were in for something incredible when I saw the "Pyramid Field Full" light up signs, resulting in us having to find an alternative route to the top of the field, well beyond the solitary tree. It was a terrible position, sound-wise but there was something strangely magical about witnessing history unfold in front of us. 100,000 of us, in the palm of their hand. A real honour to be there, even if Charlie didn't want to be. Wonderful. Rest in Peace, Charlie.
