Park Home Ground

Hi,

Just a quick question as we've been discussing it between ourselves... we're bringing in a big 3 roomed 8 man tent for the whole group and the ones amongst us who have been before are set on camping in Park Home. We are traveling down early Wednesday/late Tuesday night, so shouldn't be too late on site after the gates open (if not before!). Obviously that doesn't account for traffic, queues etc.

1. Do you think we will have any problems with finding a decent space in Park Home for a big(ish) tent?

2. What time would you recommend that I need to be in the queue for to make sure we get that decent space?

Thanks in advance!!

1. Yes.  Quite a small area to aim for now that there's Arcadia, and you don't want to be too near the bottom of the hill.

2. Personally, I'd want to be at gate D by 4am at the latest, others who've actually used that gate might suggest earlier (I think there's been some badly organised queues there in the past, I've suffered similarly at B)

Thanks... what is traffic (usually) like around the site in the early hours Wednesday. Was planning on leaving the North West between midnight and 2am - it's usually a 4 hour drive give or take.

There 'should' be no traffic at all around the site pre 6am (last year was horrific, mind).  Cars are able to get off the roads fairly effectively and into the car parks.  You should fly into the car park - but then obviously a case of which car park, and how far you've to lug your kit to the gate etc.

I'd recommend splitting the tent into multiple parts that each of ye can carry quickly, bring nothing else, and go back to car later for rest of your stuff.  Don't have it all in one massive heavy bag that requires coordinated lifting between ye.

That's a stock photo of the tent. It is, suprisingly, manageable by one! Just space wise not the most convenient!

I've forward an arguement for us all just getting the pop up Quechua tents but it's to no avail.
