Price rises + inflation

Got bored and found a comparative price w/ inflation calculator (http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1633409/Historic-inflation-calculator-value-money-changed-1900.html). turns out that in real terms the price of a ticket has only risen by the equivalent of a fiver since 2009 (£175, the face value of that year corresponds to £204.70 now). Kinda reassuring when you consider the effort that has gone into expanding parts of the site like the SE corner in the last 5 years; shows that the eavii, if they wanted to, could chase the cash and compromise the spirit of the festival a lot more than they already do.

when I first went in 1979 it was £5 by todays money that works out at between £20 and £40 { depends which one you use }
so really it all depends on what starting point you use
2003 was the first year it broke the £100 barrier { £105 } and that works out at £145
sure it has got bigger but so has the trader fees.
I still think its good value but there has been some steep rises that some people may not have noticed
Sure they could charge more but you end up in a situation that only the wealthy can afford to attend.
