tobylarone
HI All, Hope you're as excited as me for the festival. This is the first year i'll be taking a campervan and wanted to check how secure the fields are? Do you need a festival ticket to get into it or can anyone get in? Cheers! bucko
the east fields are fenced off and each person in the vehicle will need a ticket to get in but it doesn't mean its 100% safe. people could still get in on foot easily enough the fence isn't as secure as the main festival fence. tobylarone
OK thanks. On the glasto website it says: If travelling to the East side they can walk directly from the car park into the campervan area. Presumably this means anyone who has a festival ticket can access the CV field, but if you do not have a festival ticket you cannot? bucko
yes we had part of are group arrive on the tuesday night and park in east1 then they walked to the east campervan fields and joined us around 10 pm. they got asked to show tickets by a steward on the drive towards the carparks. the thing with the east side of the site is both cars and campervans share the same access roads with stewards separating you into the correct fields as you drive along it. the people who are going to camp inside the main fence then queue on foot to gain access at pedestrian gate c inside the campervan field. Bexxxxx
As Bucko says, in theory, you need a festival ticket to access the fields. And many ticket holders from east carparks walk through the CV fields to access the festival. So there is lots of foot traffic through the CV fields, particularly if you are near one of the main paths. There is also security, although i'm not sure how much. I've seen the odd watch tower and stewards patrolling. All in all, it's fairly secure. But like on the main festival site, it's not foolproof so i'd still avoid leaving valuables there if possible.
