Madmark
Ive never been to Leeds festival, but go to Glastonbury every year usually, So whats it like compared to Glasto, and what is there to do once the bands have finished playing? mrtourette
It's not like Glasto (but then again nothing is). Seperate campsite and arena (so no taking your own booze into the arena where the bands play), quite heavily commercialised so only one kind of lager/cider/energy drink/cigarette brand/etc. available, not really for kids, no 'alternative' arts or chill-out areas, a lot more condensed. Unlike Reading Leeds has a reasonable amount on after hours (check the official site or the FAQ thread in the main R&L section) but nothing amazing. It's basically music and beers with mates, it's not as obviously money-grabbing as T or V but at the end of the day it's still a commercial mainstream festival. If you don't like the music them there isn't much else there to make it worthwhile, unless you're going in a big group to have a laugh. ivan
I have been to Glasto 11 times and Leeds about the same. Plenty of stages to keep you occupied , but if the line up is not to your taste then it would prob not be worth it. I have spent all day in the NME/Radio 1 tent , which is better than the John Peel stage at Leeds - thiinks that because it Leeds second stage and Glasto's 3rd or 4th. Plenty of stuff going on afterwards - DJ's , cinema tent but not a patch on Glasto. Personally , if you are raving over the line up then its worth going to - if not then you are probably better trying another festival.
