Flogging Molly

Band of the weekend.

Having seen Big Boi at Primavera I left after BOB because the crowd was SHIT. Weren't even singing along with Ms Jackson FFS.

The Misus and I made the trip over to Avalon, having never been there before.

Anyway, the tent was jammed, the atmosphere electric, and Flogging Molly totally brought the party. They seem deeply honoured to be playing and worked us up into a frenzy.

I was singing my heart out to the opening of What's Left of the Flag, and just before it dropped, I caught the eye of two blokes either side of me, and we all nodded at each other, knowing it was all about to kick off. Got nice and sweaty, and it left me beaming ear to ear. A triumph

I caught a good chunk of their set - like you, having wandered over after not really feeling Big Boi, and they were really good. I was just too knackered to plough into the bouncy so watched from the edges but the tent was rammed and everyone seemed to be having a whale of a time. I only knew a couple of the tracks they played, but it seemed like a hell of a party if you were a fan.

bit of both, smattering of new stuff and a load of old songs.

brilliant set - The chems and coldplay couldn't have close to the joyous melee that was flogging molly's audience. Thats what I'm looking for in a festival, an hour of no nonsense jumping about and lurching into people at the end of the night...

Even the bloke standing next to me bashing the tin lid along with the songs couldn't ruin the the enjoyment.

Though I have to say I did a fair amount of over enthusiastic drunken flailing in his direction which tended to put him off his stroke

i watched teh first 4 songs of chems, but decided to move up to flogging molly to meet with mates after so we could all go straight to the greenfields and such.

wow,ide seen them at leeds, and they were amazing then, but this crowd was probably even better, and the band were so energetic, great banter too.

real great moment watching them, left of the flag and drunken lullabies are classics.
