A group of 10 of us with 5 tents between us all wanted to leave our tents as they were covered in mud and weren't worth the hassle of taking back. I decided to go over to the campsite crew and ask where the designated areas were where we could put our unwanted tents/chairs etc. And the answer we got back was .. "I dont know sorry. Just leave them by your camp but make sure they are un-pitched".

I mean what type of response is to that a group who didn't want to just leave the tents as they were all perfectly fine bar the mud? So we just ended up leaving them all packed away by the bins. Total waste, as if i was provided with an answer they could have been donated.

Its sad when all the bins get overflowing so soon, and you really want to be tidy and put the rubbish in the bins, and in the correct bins, but their all overflowing so badly.

I have always made sure that specifically at glasto i do always take my tent and inflatable matress and chair back with me,i cant afford to leave stuff and i do use it for other fests to.

Ide feel like a right c*nt who shouldnt be at glasto if i left any of my crap.

we all had a good clean in our area of about 15 people,i brought 2 of my own black bin bags and collected all the mess up nicely, plus we had some real experienced glasto goers who helped out cleaning our campsite in general.Basically we all had the right mindset of consideration.

I guess im myself just a tidy person with a consciense for making sure i dont leave serious litter and junk about,i would put my food waste in my pockets and find a bin back at camp.

Maybe people need rewarding for taking back their things?,cheaper tickets than ones who dump? free glasto gifts or something?.

Hi all Chucky's Mum here...I can't agree more about the slobbish lazy wotnots who left all their gear behind, it was HORRENDOUS!!!! I just got home from site a couple of hours ago. I work backstage at the Acoustic stage as a driver, I pick up the bands and transport them to their next gig on site or back to their tour buses. For the first few days I was proud to be showing off the farm/festival to my passengers, but by Sunday morning I was sort of cringing and hoping they were.nt noticing ever increasing piles of crap on the site.....

On Monday myself and a few of the crew went tatting, that long held tradition where we drive round the site and basically pick ourselves up a new tent/sleeping bag from the stuff left behind. It's a form of recycling. But this year we were stopped by security, you know those blus and black bods? to be told that we weren't allowed because it was theft. Um, excuse me???? If we don't pick it up and take it away where else will it go? Oh yes, into landfill of course. We were stealing from landfill??!! What a load of old cods. Luckily I still had my laminates and radio with me and was able to flash a bit of authority (about the only time in my life I DO have authority) and the little toerag backed down. But later I heard more depressing stories of the same security bunch practically running people off site for the same 'crime'. Arrrrgh. It obvious they wanted to go through the leavings themselves. There are 30,000 crew on site, a lot of them go tatting and take the stuff away with them, thats got to be a good thing surely?

There used to be a crew that came down from London every year to take away the good tents etc, I think, but don't quote me, they were from Oxfam. They gave up after the wet 2007 and have never been back. Tragic. So much good stuff there that can be used.

Anyway, rant over, had a bath now sitting here with a glass of wine after what has probably the toughest year yet.
