You and all the other tolerant people are going straight to hell according to your book, so in the end your tolerant Christian beliefs are futile in my view.

That's the bit that I have trouble with. Was he just talking about the Commandments, or the whole of the Old Testament? Or was he just trying to avoid trouble with the religious authorities? He must have been aware they saw him as a challenge to their authority.
