Lilo

We've always taken an air bed but it's a bit on the heavy side. I've bought a couple of cheap lilo's, but not sure whether we'll regret it or not. Anyone had any experience with them?

Cheers

Bloody uncomfortable in my experience. They also slide around in the night. I've heard tell that if you use a couple together, they're more comfortable, but then why wouldn't you just use an airmatress, which takes up less space and is definately more comfy?

Tried one in '09. If you are able to lie flat on your back to sleep and don't roll around in the night it is fine. Anything other than that and there's not enough cushioning to stop joints pushing into hard, cold ground.

Mine started to deflate on the saturday night, the seams were starting to leak and no amount of re-inflating would see it stay up for long and it led to a cold, uncomfortable couple of nights.

I'd never taken anything more than a parka to sleep on at a festival before that and can't believe that I now require the level of comfort and luxury I do. A double flock airbed is an essential, in my opinion.

In the past I would take 2 or 3 of the Poundland lilos (1 to use and 2 for spares if punctures/deflation occurred). Even in multiple numbers they take up no space or weight compared to a behemoth blue vinyl mattress and in my experience I have not ever met a blue vinyl mattress that has not broken/deflated on first use. Bloody awful things in my mind.

I have now though invested ยฃ35 on a Thermarest that I bought back in 2009 and it has been to over 20 festivals now and is bloody incredible, very comfortable, doesnt deflate or puncture. Spend half the money you would have done on a useless blue vinyl mattress and go for a Thermarest. You wont regret it.

i used one last year with great success . Had to blow it up once a day as it did let a small amount of air out but so much lighter and alot cheaper than a air bed. Ill be taking one again this year!
