Seeing as acts who've never played are encouraged, I'd like to see A Camp. Early to mid afternoon on Avalon or West Holts, please. I'll settle for the proposed Windsor/Harris double act though.

REM were brilliant last time they played. (2003 wasn't it? It was the same year as Radiohead.) I also got to see them at Hyde Park -- one of my cousin's mates couldn't make the rescheduled show so I got the ticket at the last minute.

And while I think about it, if you think about other songwriters even of noel's generation, Thom Yorke, Damon Albarn and Jarvis Cocker then I prefer every one of them rather than noel, noel is so one dimensional it bores me. Why is he elevated to this legendary status by some, I don't understand it and it is undeserved. Maybe solo he will be a different artist, he needs to be cos he churned out the same old shite for far too long with oasis.

Oh good! Another reasonably interesting topic has turned into a slanging match. Well I am nothing if not opinionated so here's my take. Oasis were brilliant. Great fun, great live, wrote great albums and then they became too popular and people changed their minds and pretended that they never liked them. Liam is one of the greatest rock stars ever. Noel on his own leaves me a little cold but there is no doubting he is a great song-writer.

Radiohead were brilliant. Very emotive, great live, wrote great albums and then they became too trendy and people changed their minds and pretended that they never liked them. Their first three albums are all in my top 50 of all time (The Bends is my favourite). I am totally unfussed by them these days and love winding up their die-hard fans but there's little to slag off. They are, at least, creative.

Blur were brilliant. Great fun, great live, wrote great albums ("Modern Life Is Rubbish" and "Parklife" are both brilliant from start to finish) and then they became too popular and people changed their minds and pretended that they never liked them. Then they split up and left it a while so everyone eanted them to reform. They did, it was amazing but possibly too popular and now people want to slag them off again.

This pattern repeats for almost all bands that manage to make the leap from the indie charts (do they still exist?) into the main charts.

As far as I can tell this topic was about the one band you wanted to see there, not about the bands other people like that you don't. Let's get lots of suggestions and put together the line-up and see how ridiculous it is when collated. That would be cool.

Actually i'd quite like to see The Fireman headline. Maybe up against Coldplay or Radiohead.

didnt mean to get into all that, could'nt help myself tho when someone says thats how it is no debate, there's always debate and views. And to just use popular number 1 singles, albums etc is to me still unconvincing, does'nt make it the best. Millions of people buy into capitalism, does'nt make it the best system, Xfactor has a huge following and millions of album sales, does'nt make it the best music.

I'll say no more, apologies once again ( and just for record, I have ALWAYS preffered radiohead, blur and pulp to oasis)

Each to his own of course. But there really is no debate. Oasis will go down in the history books as the number one band of this era (in this country). Opinions are irrelevant. Its just the way it is and the history books rarely lie. Blur, Oasis, Radiohead are guitar driven bands -ok, i know Radiohead have changed a bit- and came along at roughly the same time. In Britain, one of those bands is infinitely more successful than the other 2. I wonder why? Hmmm.

Every person I've known to have liked GY!BE a lot and considered them one of their favourite bands, has had not even a relatively good thing to say about Oasis or anyone within the Britpop genre. Odd, I know, you are the first to not conform it seems.

I personally think Oasis are shite, by the by.

Led Zeppelin - Plant finally sees sense and having produced two hugely successful solo albums with Alison Krauss and Band Of Joy, grudgingly agrees to late night cross party talks with Page, Jones, Michael, Emily and Melvyn Benn. The wine flows freely and all agree that a full world tour can wait but a one off headlining slot will partially satisfy the insatiable demand for a Zepp reunion. Page and Percy shake on it and Melvyn does a little wee. The rest is history.

I dont believe they are infinitely more succesful as you put it, more musicians would cite radiohead and blur as a major influence in creating music. Who jumped on the oasis bandwagon ? Kasabian. Oasis like the spice girls appealed to the mainstream the same as Xfactor does now ;) Seriously tho, lets drop it, I wont be a lone voice on this subject and neither will you, this has escalated enough.

Lets make up and put our differences aside
