Personally I think the Mondays f**ked themselves up regardless of somebody like Bez being in the band. They burned themselves out just like most great bands and artists do; Londoner or Manc.

I mean we compare London and Manchester and we've all sort of contributed bands in our own way but I think the most important question is, which city has produced the greatest number of consistent bands?

Actually, the idea of doing such thing pains me because it's such a cliche to say that Manchester is so good for producing music - but then, despite the fact it's a cliche it's also a cold truth. I'm more interested in talking about different bands from different pockets of the country, like Glasgow (Belle and Sebastian, Primal Scream, Jesus and Mary Chain, Mogwai, The Vaselines, etc) because it's in my nature to be contrary.

I was going to make the point for Glasgow, although it doesn't particularly produce the biggest bands it does seem to produce alot of cult bands.
