My first EotR and I have to agree with everyone else about what a well planned and nice festival this is. Relaxed atmosphere and nice people, not to much queuing and very tasty ales etc. Arriving late with the BGC-service on the Friday, which meant that we missed Ruby Suns and Elliott Brood was the only downside to the festival experience.

Friday

Woodpigeon: 3.5/10 - A disappointment. Good albums, really uninspiring live. Lacking in tightness and volume. Seem like really nice people though.

Cymbals Eat Guitars: 8.0/10 - I like how this junior Pavement/Built to Spill-act balance between silent parts and noise.

Wolf Parade: 8.5/10 - The only downside was that the gig didn't take place in a sweaty club, where Wolf Parade belongs.

Modest Mouse: 9.0/10 - With a better set list it might have been a perfect festival gig.

The New Pornographers: 7.0/10 - Mid-tempo pop music but much better live than when I saw them on the Challengers-tour. Good selection of songs.

Saturday

Snowman: 5.5/10 - A little bit more variety would have helped this set. They managed to create a gloomy and suggestive feeling though.

2/3 of the Nurses-gig: 5.5/10 - Much too low volume and maybe a later time slot would have suited their music better.

Phosphorescent: 7.5/10 - A band that epitomizes this festival. Beautiful music and I'm happy I'll see them again next week.

Deer Tick: 6.0/10 - Phosphorescent light.

Monotonix: 5.5/10 - Quite entertaining cirkus and it's nice to get to dance for a while. Not too qualitative music though.

Brakes: 7.0/10 - Very nice highly paced garage rock. A bit monotonous in the end perhaps.

Yo La Tengo: 9.0/10 - Shoegaze-heaven at times. The start of the set was my only concern.

Caribou: 8.0/10 - A perfect closing act at the Big Top. Stirring, exciting and intelligent dance music.

Sunday

Dylan LeBlanc: 6.0/10 - Beautiful voice, just a bit lulling at times.

Smoke Fairies: 4.0/10 - May cause drowsiness.

The Antlers: 7.0/10 - Don't quite realize their full potential live. Maybe they need some more experience but it's still a nice gig.

Yuck: 8.0/10 - These guys can really generate some noise. In time they'll probably grow to be a little bit more distinctive, which is what's lacking.

The Low Anthem: 8.0/10 - Beautiful and nice how they use the quietness as a tool.

Wilco: 8.0/10 - They are not really my cup of tea, amazingly good live though.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
    • Taxi mafia running their usual scam.
