Hey guys, i have been to glasto before but went with my parents so we always had lots of food (and money!). this year im going with a friend and we cant possibly afford to pay for food every night. any suggestions of what food to bring? i know pasta, pot noodle etc. and people have said tins but i think that will be too heavy..

any advice?

Tins of food are too heavy IMHO, though plenty of others seem to bring them.

That just leaves dehydrated food like the packet noodles, pasta and rice you've mentioned. There are also the army style ration packs, though they can work out quite pricey. If you fancy spicing up your food a bit, you can take some chorizo - it keeps well enough without a fridge. Parmesan is another option.

You used to be able to get boxes of breakfast food (can't remember what they were called) with potato, bacon bits and something else that were quite tasty - you fried them up. Anyone know what I'm talking about and if it's still available?

High Energy foods can be good too. Stuff like Oreos or mars bars. sugary fatty junk basically. not to healthy, wont fill you up but will keep you going.

i like breakfast bars too light weight, filling, tasty and not too bad for you either!

Dried stuff

Smash

Cuppa soups

Noodles/Pasta

Cous-cous

next look at sealed wet food

Uncle bens microsowave rice (and its copies) takes a few minutes to heat up in a pot with a dribble of water.

Pasta sauces.

plenty of sealed in a bag long life stuff out there.

Finally look at tins

Get creative, stuffed vine leaves or peppers in olive oil maybe in place of more bloody beans and something!

Brioche rolls and unlevened bread (like pita) keeps.

Frozen stuff in a freezer box, should last you 3 days, 4 at the most, avoid pork/chicken as these can be a little too fussy and prone to spoiling without a fridge (but salted and smoked bacon is OK).

One idea I have tried was a pita/pocket bread stuffed with ketchup, sliced peperami and cheese triangles lightly fried on a pan with a little oil. Sounds awful, looks like a heart attack waiting to happen, tastes bloody loverly!

As I'm not as creative or organised as hurrahbrother, the only food I take is maltloaf - a malty fruitloaf, I usually go for Soreen. I find it's brilliant - and you often get special offers at this time of year (I'm convinced they do it especially for Glastonbury!) of 2 for 1. It's tasty, it keeps nice for a few days once opened if you scrunch up the end of the packaging, you don't need to put any butter or anything on it. You don't even need a knife - just tear chunks off - yumm!

I find I sometimes forget to eat when at glasto and I go a bit wobbly - maltloaf is an instant fix - it stops the shakes and fills me up too. And it's good for breakfast, lunch or tea. :)
