Pennard Hill Grounds

I'm trying either Park Home or Dairy Ground as both close to where I want to be stage-wise and supposedly quiter. Do a search for campsite on the Questions board. There's tonnes on there.

I've camped in Pennards for the last two years. First thing to know is that it fills up very quickly, like it was all but full on the Wednesday.

It's a great location, but very noisy. The metal road that links the Club Dada end of the railway track with the Park area has to be one of the busiest on the site. It goes straight through pennards and has people constantly on the move other than about 4am.

The flooding thing only effects tents pitched down by the railway track where water got trapped up against the bank. However, much extra drainage has been put in since 2005 and Eavis says this wont happen again. However, we've not had those conditions again since. (That was one mighty storm in 2005!) Pennards is a hill, camp up the hill and you wont flood!

If you want quieter then Park Home Ground and Dairy ground are great options. Indeed Dairy ground is around twice the size of last year, so will have plenty of room. Also close to the pedestrian gates and the west car parks.

We're going for Dairy Ground this year, i'm past 40 now and actually need a couple of hours sleep!

Not crazy Reading Festival noisy, but not quiet... but then where is?

But being near Park and Stone circle, people are often up late, but it's a prime place to be.

Aye, thought so. Camped there in 2003, one of my mates really wants to camp there again this year but we're not gonna be getting there till late wednesday, so I hope we can persuade him out of it. We'll probbaly be arriving in the dark so I'm hoping to aim to do what we did in 2008, camp in the very first spot we see!

I actually found Pennards really dull. People telling others to 'be quiet'. But it WAS quiet in 2008. I thought it was the place to be. BUt i'm heading back over to Big Ground by the Pyramid for a bit of atmos. It's actually fairly quiet at night as everyone heads away to the late night bits.

Camped in the Dairy Ground last year, as the traffic ensured we arrived late and could not get in to pennards or Park home. Dairy ground was really cool. Nice chilled out vibe. Neighbours were cool and could get sleep if you wanted it. Only problem was it was quite a hike from where i usually finish my night in shangri-la or the stones or wherever.

camped there last year for the first time because people on here were constantly saying how lively it was. didn't see any liveliness at all to be honest! slept like a baby every night.

will be camping there again purely because of it's awesome location. close to park stage, stone circle, flag field, 5 mins to other stage, not far from the west car parks. great spot.

    • Jesse Malin at Manchester Halle St Peter's last night.   So good to see him back touring after the trauma he has been through, him and the backing band sounded great.   Support was Bason. I quite enjoyed him, but man, that guy cannot sing.
