Running at Glastonbury

I wondered whether anybody ran at glasto too. I'm training for a half marathon in October but will not be running at glastonbury, due to it being 5 days off from the real world. Training can take a weeks break!

The hangovers, mud and crowds are also reasons why not!

I am not one of those runners who loves running though...not yet anyway! I am just doing it for a personal challenge. But if people really love running then it may improve glastonbury for them as they are able to take an hour out and do what they love. And then you have the sense of achievement you get afterwards too, to further bolster your festival good mood.

Some runners may feel terribly guilty for missing a run and would not feel right until they had done one, so I can understand why some people would.

Not for me though, I love partying too much and would choose a pint over a run any day, especially at glastonbury!

My brother did last year everyday...on the way back to the car to stock up on his supplies (away from really crowded parts obviously)...on the way back he powerwalked carrying cans etc in his backpack all the way back..hes a very fit guy..;)

It was always mid morning..I think it cleared any hangover for him..:)

Aye. Its a ball ache. Had physio but to no avail. Its doing ok and I can generally walk around no probs. Its when I get up after a while of sitting down. Takes a minute or two to 'warm up'

But I know its still there, so I'm just worried that it will flare up whilst doing all the walking. Got some diclofenac that Ill start to take before the festival in order to control any inflamation. Taking no chances

I know everyone's different so this advice may not be the answer, but I had a nasty bout year before last. The major problem with me was lack of flexibility in the calves. Not just the gastroc which most people take as the calf, but in the soleus as well, the muscle underneath it. Typical calf stretches don't really touch this, you have to do a weird one with foot flat on the floor and sink down on that knee - an onternet search with pics will prob give you a better idea than my w*nk description!! Obv coupled with the standard rest and anti-inflamms...

Thought about going to a podiatrist to get some orthotics done? Bit pricey but may be able to NHS it with a bit of a wait and one of more reliable treatments. Whatever you do don't let your doctor quack it up with steroid injections/surgery referral!!

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
    • Think this will be it...I think they are a level above trees.
