Just to check are you able to leave and return to the festial as you please like most other festivals or do you require all your tickets and documents etc? Hoping just the wristband is enough

This si to prevent people (who may have managed to get their wristband off) from passing their wristband to someone else and get others in that way as you have to hand over the passout ticket back when you come back through.

As a campervanner I obviously go through this quite a lot but have never really got the point to the passout...

The wristband is pretty self explanatory and showing your ticket proves you are you and haven't given/sold your wristband to someone else but what does the passout actually do? You have the wristband and the 'used' ticket to prove you have already been in so why the need for something else to prove you have been in and come back out?!?

First year of the photo ticket there was a scam whereby you sell (or swap for a large bag o weed :P ) both your wristband and photo ticket half. The buyer then exits the festival using their legitimate ticket and sells the extra to persons outside to enter. Having been in the field a couple days it was easy enough to stress the ticket enough to pass as pretty much anyone with the same hair colour. This way you need to have exited the festival to get a valid passout. So even if you took two tickets/wristbands out only one could re-enter.

I can't stress enough the importance to make sure you get the passout ticket. A couple years ago after setting the tent up I took the trolley back to the car to fetch the booze and used the middle gate thingy that they open up and as such didn't get a passout ticket. They wouldn't let me back in even though it was obvious I was re-entering, what with only having booze with me. I had to go round the outside of the fence from Ped D to Ped A (longer than you think in the beating sun) and find a kindly Oxfam steward to give me a replacement pass.

Ah, at last, that makes sense - thank you! :P

I have heard horror stories of people who have lost their pass-out's and wasted most of a day trying to sort it out... I did a mad tidy up in 2007 and threw my friends in the bin and had to go through our 4 day old bin bag (while not feeling my best) to find it and do not wish to repeat this experience.... (In my defence she had just randomly dropped it on the floor in the awning...)

I have seen loads of people do that but I'm just too scared its not secure enough in there - I like at least one zip between that and the outside world - paranoid I know! :P

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
