To Shmangle?

Hi

Was just looking for a replacement waterproof backed blanket as my old one is trashed after Thursday last year! It was great as it folded into itself with a handle so easy to carry about.

Just come across these Shmangle things and wondered what anyone thought of them? Are they a bit lightweight or do you think a good idea for festi? Not sure about how they'd fare on slightly damp, muddy grass (Not that we'll have any of that this year!!)

Any thoughts?

I own one & it's brilliant!! Folds up into a handy little carrying bag so you can take it out with you if you want, keeps you nice and snug & is good to sit on.

Seems to cope quite well with wet grass but if it does get a little too damp, it dries out really quickly. Can wash it in your washing machine when you get home if it does get muddy.

Go for it I say! :P

In 2007 I couldn't face taking it outside in the mud but still used it loads when sitting in the tent.

Go for it - I love mine, they wash really well. Even survived a visit from my baby nephew last month.

This is very similar to German zeltbahn capes! i found one at a festival in germany and it took me ages to work out what it was!

They're made from really thick canvas which is plenty waterproof and can be used as a blanket, picnic rug, poncho, sleeping bag, hooded cape, shelter, etc. If you have two of thema nd a couple of poles then they make a tent that will block out all sun. They come in 3 types; rectangualr, triangular or a rectangle with a triangle at each end for tent flaps. There are some instructions on line somewhere on how to build different asized tets with them, including a huge officers mess.

They go on ebay for a fiver or so.
