When do most people arrive?

Hi

First time at Glastonbury. Two of my friends can only travel up on the Thurs and I'm thinking it would be more fun if we all traveled together. If we all arrive mid afternoon on the Thurs will it be hard to find a good camping spot for two 3-4 people tents?

Thanks

People will tell you it'll be packed out and impossible to camp.

And, if you just march into an arbitrary campsite and look around, you'll find it to be true.

However, if you ask a campsite marshall, they should be able to direct you to somewhere with space. If the first ones you ask are useless, don't give up, ask another marshall.

In 06 lots of people complained there wasn't enough space. But aerial photos later showed there was room enough.

I managed to get into the Dance Field last year and I arrived at about 11PM. We managed to get 3 tents next to each other in a little spot. Thursday was a massive nono though, it was completely full.

Depends what you mean by a 'good' camping spot. Lots of the popular fields will be full within a few hours of gates open on Wednesday morning, but there's always space enough for everyone.

If it's your first festival, guess you can't really know where your favourite field will end up being over the coming years, so take a punt and see what happens! It took me four years of going to find Williams Field, and even that's changed now to the point I wouldn't camp there anymore.

There is always space, and you'll find plenty of room for 2 tents. Bushy will have plenty of space, and I reckon the new fields that have been opened to the west of John Peel will be roomy as well as they are new. I turned up early Friday 07 and bagged a space in Lower Mead away from the Pylons and everything. Seriously, I really wouldn't worry about where you camp either, the place is too big for anywhere to be a significant advantage, unless you plan to spend your time in

one place(how boring).

The stewards will point you in the right direction for space. Go there, pitch tent, and enjoy.

I arrived on the Wednesday afternoon last year and stuggled to find a spot near to the entrance I came in from (which was from blue car park). However, after walking what seemed like miles with all my stuff there was plenty of room further away past the Jazz World stages.

Take my advice and pack light! There's no worse torture than struggling to camp with far too much stuff to carry.

I don't think you can characterise a whole field along the lines of what kind of neighbours/vibe you'll get -- because that's unpredictable year on year, and will vary within a field.

What you can predict, is what the view will be like, how it'll hold up to weather, and proximity to where you want to be.

Park Home:

- Good view; not dissimilar to Pennards. South Park is higher and therefore has more view, but it's crew camping now.

- On a slope, so should be OK in the rain

- Very handy for The Park, obviously. I think it's pretty convenient for all the fun parts in the South East. However in the mud it might be more difficult to trudge up there.

    • I decided to goto bed early for the Aussie game rather than stay up for Scotland. I don't regret my decision, I also love the complete over reaction during the world cup when a player has 1 good game, that Watford winger is now everyones dream signing. Its also funny when clubs get into the hype and end up overpaying for someone who then does nothing in the prem.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
    • Interesting the stat guys say 3 points and -3 goal difference is where it gets to 50/50 territory in terms of going to the last 32. If Scotland lose their last 2 at best they are on -1, play like they did yesterday and they could take a heavy loss.   However thinking about it positively get 4 points from the last 2 games and the group is won! Have heard a few saying Scotland should just park the bus next 2 games, but not sure they have the players to do it. From my perspective they could really do with a decent defensive midfielder to add balance, but not sure if they have one in the squad. They also need significantly more from Mctominay who I thought was poor, but understand he has been unwell.
