  1. 1. Need some help deciding on whether to come to Glasto 2010 or not...

    • Come by myself with a little tent and find myself some action, and maybe some nudey prod tent games?

Yep, just been reading about Camp Bestival. Thing is, I'm based in the North East so if I'm taking the kids by myself, a huge journey there and back probs isn't the best idea. Having said that, I'll be in the camper so not as much of an issue as just being in the car. Plus long journeys can be broken up over a couple of days...

Also like the look of Beautiful Days.

Oh man,

the same thing happened to me in 07, 11 year relationship and to be honest although I feel a bit of a girl saying it, I was a bit devastated and dazed and 'Christ what do I do now' kind of thing.

It took me about 3 months to get my head round it, fortunately I was working offshore and had lots of thinking time but then I started looking forward and I can now honestly say it was the best thing that could have happened to me.

You will do your grieving now but pay that balance off and go yourself, it will either be the start of a brand new chapter in your life or you'll already have turned it around and have a great time.

Head up, it will get better! :P

Yeah, I'm having that discussion in my own head. Thing is, we hadn't planned to take the kids this year, although I'm now decided to take them to a different, smaller fest instead.

I think they'd be pretty happy going to any fest, really. Glasto's good, but very tough with kiddos.

I went last year, for the first time, with my two kids aged 6 (nearly 7) and 10 - I did it by myself, driving, packing, unloading, pushing trolley, crying with tiredness, putting up the tent in the dark at 2 in the morning after a 9 hour journey - you can do it!

We had a bloody amazing time, the kids loved it, they are brimming with excitement at going this year, it was a proper bonding time, I didn't get to do things like arcadia after dark and dance village and so on, but I did shit loads, and thought it was superb.

I think you will be fine by yourself with your kiddies - they will make sure you don't get despondent - I say do it, it sounds like you and the kids get on well, you will have a fantastic family memory and a proper together time.

i'm sure you would have a cool time by yourself too - but you CAN definitely go with kids alone and have a wicked time.

Thanks man. Helps to know that other people have gotten through this kind of thing ok. :(

Yep, I feel like a bit of a girl right now, but if I didn't really care about any of this I'd be as bad as she is!

I'm 99.99% sure I'll cope better once she's moved out of our house, which she can't do for another couple of weeks yet. :P

After that, I need to get my head back into my work and start planning a good summer - which includes Glasto on my tod! :P

My wife's or yours? :P

Really sorry to hear it bud. :P

Personally I wouldn't take the kids. At those ages, they're likely to get tired pretty early after all the wandering around etc. Probably a higher chance of you all going to bed early where you'll probably struggle to get to sleep and end up pondering (or wallowing :P ); not good at a place that will bring back memories anyways.

at least on your own, you can keep going until you pass out....Plus it'll make it easier to leave if you do find it too much

I'd definitely get back on the horse though, you've got to do it sometime and this time or in 5 years time, the place will still provoke a few memories.

Know it'll be hard, but you'll be fine, and as suggested, go to the efests camp and the cider bus meetings on the wednesday and thursday, so that you're with people.

Take it easy.

Thanks for that. Yeah, I have no worries that I could do it all myself (it would be even easier for me because I'd be bringing the campervan if I came with the kids) but I kinda just want to go and be 'me' rather than have the kids with me this time... might sound selfish, but I think I need it!

Work flat out on trying to patch it up with your wife, for the sake of your kids. Try marriage guidance, counselling or whatever.

On the other hand if you're thinking about a bit of nudey proddy stuff then maybe you're not too committed to the relationship either.

If it's really over go solo. Don't take the kids. They'll be hard work and if they don't enjoy it you won't either.

    • I think they mentioned it in one and interview that the concept of Passport is one thing that differentiates the Sziget from other festival and encourages to explore the site outside music stuff. I doubt they will get rid of it, they might just be late, like they are with everything else.
