Who are these people? And why do they know nothing about the growth of popular music over the last fifty years?

And if Wonder isn't a worthy headliner, who exactly is?

He was number 15 on Rolling Stone magazines greatest artists of all time. Of the 14 bands / acts above him, 10 no longer exist or are dead or have retired.

Well, quite. I don't profess to know much of his stuff (I'm working on that in readiness) but I do know he's a musical legend. I know a lot more about him now than I did 2 weeks ago - and am loving it.

Even this baffles me. His big five albums of the early 70s are required listening if you are to have any claims to know anything about music.

Standards of education - paf. I don't know.

So what have you got through? My favourite is still FFF.

which 5 are you refering to, cos i would count 6 classics of the 70's

and even tho in the eighties and a step down in quality (hardly surprising) id say 'hotter than july' is pretty much required listening too

Sorry Wolf- glad you are correcting this madness now. But I wouldn't have been able to look you fully in the eye properly knowing you didn't know SW.

Mind - Book - FFF - Innervisions - Life.

That's what was on the curriculum where I was brought up :P

It's like not knowing "Sounds of Silence", or "Exile on Maine Street" or "The Beatles" or "Blonde on Blonde" or "Electric Ladyland" or "Hunky Dory" or "Sticky Fingers" or "Bridge over Troubled Waters" or "Pet Sounds" or "What's going on?" or "London Calling" or "Astral Weeks" or "Blue".

edit "Or Music from the big pink!"

My issue isnt if hes worthy of headlining, hes Stevie Wonder!!, but Im more than a little concerned if that sort of music can withstand a headlining Pyramid slot. A lot of slow and sometimes quiet soul songs in a big open field with 80,000+ people, a lot of whom wont know a lot of the songs. 4-5 ballads/slow numbers in a row and people may get bored.
