40 Years of Glasto

i really do not like people talking about radiohead in 97 - was there but chose to see primal scream in the dance tent - big mistake as they came on really late, and could have seen both

may be i was getting carried away but i still feel very strongly that jay z was the WRONG choice to head line glasto yes the weather ect but we expect that most years .

But in my slightly short sighted view of that year this head liner really didn't help glasto sales .

Anybody that never went to Glastonbury because of Jay-Z is more than welcome to stay at home in my view. You get 120 hours at Glastonbury and how long was he on for? An hour n a half? Forgetting people didn't need to see him and could watch one of the 20 or so acts playing at the same time.

Enough of this Jay-Z chat, it's soooo year-before-last.

Out of the years I've been (most since 1997) highlights include:

White Stripes in 200-summink (can't remember which year but they were AWESOME)

That really hot, sunny year we had - 2002 maybe?

Shangri-La and Arcadia last year (I managed to go at the right time of night to avoid the horrible queues and thought it was awesome)

REM in, err, whichever year they played.

Skunk Anansie, in the same year as REM

David Bowie in 2000 and errr....

Hearing the dance tent had accidentally been filled with shit in 1998 (sorry, thought this was hilarious at the time!)

Ummm - I can't remember which years it was that I saw all the awesome stuff I've seen. But at least I'm not bitching about the headliners from yesteryear!

and Buddy Guy

and Nine Inch Nails (about 1999 I think?)

and John Tams in 2008 when he sang the theme from Sharpe

and...... (I could go on for a long time and not get a single one of the years right....!)
