Black out tents

I have seen some good cover made out of old parachutes.

out of interest, how bad is the rustling? i have no problems sleepign with earplugs, but i would be a little worried about annoying my neighbours.

I have one of these ministry of sound black out tents

got it in the sales last year for £30 after my trusty pop served its last festival at Glastonbury last year.

I took the said black out tent to The Big Chill and it worked a treat! something in the lining reflects the sun rays so it doesn't get hot inside.

The big chill last year was boiling and my mates were taking it in turns to lie in my tent to cool down.

One down side as mentioned you cant find a f**king thing in it at night time, but my solution to this at Glastonbury this year will be to bring a torch with me!

Me too, they make ace shelters, and they make an appearance at Burning Man as well (that's the festival set in a desert!).

I don't believe them, a black tent in direct sunlight is going to be absolute hell. The space blankets and gaffer tape is a much better idea.

This was tested on desert people, for years Bedouin have worn black over white

But a bedouins robes are made of a loose fabric of black wool and cotton, and are not of a water proof synthetic polymer

mmm more tort the fabric the more reflective polymers are and less wind resistance on the fabric ? so less wind resistance, more volume of air flowing with out being restricted, hence more heat being dissipated????? :

Bit like why are polar bears white, to absorb heat from the suns solar radiation...

A google search should find you one, haven't tried one but can't imagine how hot it could get inside....

I've been thinking about getting one of these space blankets, they shouldn't rustle as much as the plastic ones, and they come ready with grommets to tie them to the tent. They might not be quite as reflective though?

The other thing, Poundland have reduced the size this year, so they are 1x2m, rather than 1.5x2m from previous years.

Gazebo over the top of your tent, we done this couple of years ago, kept it low down and it worked a treat, then moved it during the day into the middle of our group so we could keep cool round the fire .... EH?

You know that your tent comes in two separate parts. One is the fly sheet and the other is the sleeping section of the tent. This is made from porous material so that the sweat from the inside tent gets out but the water through the fly sheet does not get in and also having an insulation area between the two sections. If you had to use a ground sheet (which is very cheep to get and blacks out a lot of light) to cover the inner sleeping ares this would help a lot. try to no make it touch to the inner sleeping area. You can also use an old army poncho. If i were you i would try it at home to see if you need to set it properly
