Can't say I noticed much of them, apart from a few ice cream vans (which are also at Glastonbury)

Doesn't affect the festival though

i must say if anyone fancies Loopallu, its really good, we went for the first time this year, and really really enjoyed it

I think Sziget in Hungary is the European equivilent of Glasto, although I've never been. Always hear nothing but good things about Bestival.

I cannot speak highly enough of Latitude, it's a fantastic festival, great atmosphere, compact so it's easy to get from one stage to another at short notice and the lineup is always excellent. It's possibly my favourite festival, although I've only done one Glastonbury, which was 2007, when the lineup was relatively underwhelming, definitely compared to last year's. But yeah, Latitude is an amazing festival, do it!!

So, for those of us unlucky enough not to get tickets, what alternative festivals would people recommend? I've only ever done Glastonbury! While seeing bands is lovely, I do like a wide range of stuff - especially seeing comedians, so I'm thinking maybe Latitude. Any good?

I think it really depends why you go to Glastonbury as what you enjoy most about the huge amount of stuff that's on offer. As Mr Eavis says Glastonbury is different for each person that goes. It depends what you'd like to see in the alternative you want instead, and of course where abouts in the country you live. Some people say Electric Picnic is close to the all around Glastonbury vibe.
