Just wondering, how lenient(sp?!) will your workplace be when you book the holiday off?

I'd prob book the Tuesday (to prepare!) weds - sun plus the monday off the day after to recover.

As where I work we work in teams, theres only 8 of us in my team and 2 want the time off (including me), chances are that only 1 will be allowed to go..... advice please!!!!

Pull a sicky if need be!!!

I always take off from the wednesday and don't start back till the following wednesday cos I like to have the tuesday off to recover. But I'm taking no risks I'll be straight in tomorrow putting my holidays in for it.

I think my work will let me have it off since i'll be telling them tomorrow. They're usually pretty good with me about holidays and always seem to find a way to keep myself and the company happy :D I'll be booking the Mon off to prepare, driving down on the Tues, Wed-Mon for the fest then maybe the Tues for the drive back and maybe the wed for a day to settle back in.

If I were you id tell your work ASAP that you've booked tickets and need the time off. It should give them plenty of time to at least pencil you in or prepare cover.

Unlucky mate by the sounds of it the wait to see if you've got it off work will be as bad as the wait people had for tickets today!

I booked my time off as soon as the dates were announced. 9+months is more than enough notice for any business to be able to manage cover for. But again, I'm lucky in that I run my department and have been in the job 10+years so am allowed some level of dispensation when it comes to things like this.

Although I have a feeling I'm going to have to take down a notebook/3G dongle to the site in case something brown and sticky hits the revolving bladed machine.

I personally have never turned down any holiday request from any staff and would not on principal, your staff work blooming hard, the least you can do is show that appreciation by agreeing to holiday whenever they want it (and yes that has meant me working over the Xmas break instead of my staff). But I do appreciate that there are some w**ker bosses out there.

I take two weeks off from the Saturday before and it is an unwritten rule in my office that no-one is allowed hols at Glasto time (only allowed one person off at a time)!

I'm lucky though that no-one else at my work goes to Glasto - in fact they all think I am mad because I take it as my summer holidays!!

I've just submitted my request. Only got a small team with two other workers, neither of them are Glasto goers, and one of them has her holidays during school holidays, so it shouldn't won't (PMA) be an issue.

I've booked mine already. I was surprised the tickets sold out so quickly though.

Really don't understand why anyone would be denied because it's Glastonbury. I know it's happened to peeps but why on earth? I mean do they stop people taking holidays because they're going to Ibiza or Malia?

Husband will get his as no one else takes holiday at that time cos they've all got kids & do traditional (boring) family holiday things.

Bit worried about myself though as am applying to get on a post grad course for speech and language therapy to start in Jan 2010 & you only get limited holiday. Have had a look at the draft timetable & have two free days (good), two lecture days (depends how strict they are on attendence) & 1 day of conversation partner (?????) in that week. Sickness may beckon I fear...... :)

    • I think it's a conscious decision this year not to publicize it beforehand. Not sure why. Maybe they have even removed the concept of a passport altogether and have something else... I like it because it helps me find parts of the program that don't function as slots in the timetable.
    • Still see Beach House with a new Album    and Tame Impala and The Strokes.
    • Yeah the rumour I heard is Glastonbury + Spurs stadium, the guy who posted it seems to be on the ball most of the time as well.   He's also now put one up for Sam fender summer shows
