Hi, I was wondering if anybody has been to Glasto on there own. Did they enjoy themselves as much as they only had themselves to think of or did they miss there mates. I might have to be going on my own sometime as I do not think my mate could come every year and just wondered about peoples experiance.

see you at the cider bus next year. :(

I have done it around 5 times by myself over the years - it is a very different experience - you see lots more - but I have found you are seldom lonely, people are happy to chat etc. I have always enjoyed it - having said that when a Glasto moment happens - its good to have someone with you to share it!

Don't be too bothered by doing it - its fun.

Yes hundreds of people. If you play with the search function and dig around in Chat and Questions there are loads of threads from this year all asking the same question (they will be a few pages back now but lots of helpful advice and experiences already passed on). The reviews of some people who went on their own and had a brilliant time are nearby too...all thanking the boards for convincing them to fly solo and what a rewarding time they got out of it.

We managed to convince peeps that had broken up with their partners, bods that didnt want to tag along with their office crew, mates that had fallen out and many just straight up on their ownsome types cos noone else in their crew had got tix etc came along to the G this year cos its silly not to go JUST cos noone in your crew is going.

There was/is a large unofficial Efest camp that sets up in the bottom of Pennards and a lot of single/on their ownsome types gravitate towards that. We had loads of single flyers who all had a brilliant time camping with people they 'knew' from here but when there, the party all in person made their festival!

Lots of Efesters that head to the camp actually are on their own and go to camp there cos of the friendships that have been made on here and being at an Efest camp at various festivals over the years. Its a bit mad and manic but that is the nature of Efesters at Glastonbury. At any time you can just pipe up...I'm off to see XXX anyone else want to come and more often than not there will be someone to go around with...but pootling about on your own is v rewarding too.

Even heading to the fest totally on your ownsome, no visiting an Efest camp or meet will be brilliant.

Get chatting to your neighbours (hopefully they'll be cool and nice...most are!), get chatting to people in food queues, get chatting to people at the Cider Bus, in a crowd...

its easy, its fun...a challenge that is well worth doing!

There are many on here that can safely say that some of their best friendships have come from using these boards and then meeting in person at the Efest camps. And THEN add to that some of the relationships that have come from it all.

I loved disappearing off and going exploring to find all of the spots around the site on my own, I met hundreds of people, saw some brilliant bands on the smaller stages and didn't have to wait around for anyone.

Was really surprised to find a badger late at night on the lanes that goes from Avalon down the side of Trash City a few days after the festival had emptied out. Wonder where he'd been hiding!

you def wont regret it, but i must say theres alos a lot of fun traveling up with mates, having the banter with close buddies and that also is really goood lols. I personally wouldnt go to a festival on my own, as i tend to go on holls to spend some qaulity time with my mates. But yea you'll meet a load of cool peeps no worries. especially if they are girls!

This was my first Glasto, and I came up "alone". The reason I put it in quotation marks is that I had fully planned to camp alone. However before I'd even left Reading station, I met 4 other guys and they ended up letting me camp with them, they told me I wasn't to camp alone and I should join them.

That's the joy of going alone. I now have 4 new really good mates.

    • Very probable. I was a bit surprised by the crowd I saw in the video they drew, and I say that as a big feeder fan. I thought they’d draw a really good sized crowd but it looked rows deep. Chuffed for them though. Still think they’re a great band after all these years.  Rumours at they’re doing a Polythene tour next year too.
    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
