i caught swine flu at glastonbury

started feeling bad sunday night, felt horrible monday and tuesday and most of wednesday, could not get out of bed.

got tested on wednesday, found out on thurday and then went to greece

overall it wasnt that bad. well it was for 2 days, but not as bad as how its hyped up in the media.

Also the doctor said there were quite a few cases reported at Glasto and even more coming home like me.

Incubation period is 2-4 days from when you first get ill so I expect the dr said he was OK to fly. I thought I had it earlier on in the week. Well I didn't really - we had a few cases at work that were confirmed and I had Glasto-flu. People kept staring at me as those I was possessed and I felt awful so went home. Was ill for two days properly, went to the doctors surgery and the nurse said I wouldn't have been able to get out of bed if I had it! I didn't agree with her logic - flu is painful and getting up is difficult but I have done it before!

Ah c'mon, it's fine, I bet 95% of people with it at the moment don't even know.. Furthermore old people don't suffer from it as they were all exposed to it last time it came round, children will all catch it at school anyway and disabled? Well I don't see why they should be singled out to not receive it

I am enjoying the suspicious looks you get from everyone when you sneeze at the moment though... I tend to sneeze every time I come into bright sunshine, and people do not look friendly as I do it!!

I cited those groups of people because they are the most vulnerable people where infectious diseases are concerned. Especially many disabled people, if you have a condition which compromises your immune system then you're not going to appreciate people wandering round with infectious diseases.

Well better to get it now (its mild - man flu) than when it mutates (were doomed ) in the winter

Actually there is no swabbing been done now unless your hospitalised (which is more likely because your immunity is low because of other issues), containment is now impossible

So if you have a suffered a fever, and two or more flu symptoms (cold, cough, vomitting etc) then you will be then 'presumed' h1n1 swine flu - even then you won't get your antivirals (tamiflu) unless your under 5 , over 65 , pregnant or in another clinical risk group - Just let it take it course as with normal flu, stay in watch highlights of glasto and don't sneeze over people for a week! People who have no symptoms won't benefit from anti virals

she said yes it was, as long as you feel well enough to travel, which i did.

otherwise i definitely wouldnt.

my two friends in my room didnt catch it

nor did my mum and she was in close contact during the worst.

I had it in early June. Was really nasty for 2 days or so, and was fully recovered within a week. I didn't feel as completely ill as I did when I've had normal flu in the past but had a lot more symptoms than with normal flu which kinda made it worse. Had fluctuating temperature, dizziness, chest infection, aches all over, headache, sore throat, sneezing, snot galore and a deep down gravelly cough for a few days after. Not fun at all but glad I got it then and not over Glasto weekend.

We've all heard about terminally ill kids going to Disneyland, it's not just kids who are dying who go away, it's kids from families desperate to give their kids a 'normal' life despite their disability.

I know it's impossible to avoid every last germ, but when you have been diagnosed with a communicable disease then you should feel morally obliged to at least attempt to not pass it around.

Difficult to know where to draw the line here though. Should he have flown if he had regular sesasonal 'flu? What about a cold?

I've diagnosed a few cases now, none have been particularly unwell. We're all going to get it, just a matter of time. Not everyone will even realise they've got it/had it.

Swine 'flu has sold a lot of newspapers, sold a lot of Tamiflu, and distracted us a little from MP expenses and the recession. The death rate appears to be not significantly worse than seasonal 'flu. Draw your own conclusions as to why you are hearing so much about it.
