I drove from Bristol last year on the Wednesday morning, having stayed there overnight. Came from north Bristol, virtually the M4/M5 junction and went down the M32 to the city centre and then out on the A37. Having left at 7.30am, I pulled off the A37 and went into Shepton Mallet town centre at 9.30am for a 20 minute comfort break!! It was slow all the way down the A37 from Bristol and then big queues approaching SM. I doubt I will do the same this year - likely to go down the M5 then across from there.

In that case, you will need to completely bypass the site on the south side. I would say your best bet is to carry on along the A303 until you get to Podimore Roundabout. From there, turn right (second to last exit) on to the A372. After about a mile, turn right on to the B3151 towards Somerton (and eventually Street). At the end of that road, turn right on to the A39 which will quickly become the A361. The West car parks are on that road, so you will be directed from there.

I have no idea what the traffic will be like, but that's probably the best route. Hope that helps?

I have no idea if this link works, but if it does, this is the route you want to take:

Hour and a bit for me too? Although we're clearly not coming from the same place, as you are from "Sunny Exeter", whereas I'm in "Drizzly Grey Exeter" :P

Abbathehorse...you seem to know your stuff.

If I'm coming on the A303 from London, wanting to get into the East car parks, should I take the A37 like they suggest or the A371 or the a A36/A361...they both look shorter than the A37.

Any suggestions? And anyone know how long its likely to take from the M3/M25 junction on the Friday morning?

Coming from West Yorkshire - gonna set off about 9am on weds morning as any earlier and we'd hut rush hour somewhere. we've been various ways in the past - does anyone have the route from the north down to a tee? best to go m62 and then M6 or down M1 and cut across by Coventry? there might not be much in it. Im confident for 4 hours.

    • I don't think I'm alone as a Scotland fan that there is no way that I could possibly fall asleep knowing we're about to play our first World Cup game in 28 years! Pure adrenaline is keeping me wide awake (and plenty of rum)!

    • I’m not Scottish but am going to try to do it. My plan is to try and get an hour sleep between games, put the alarm on and hope that’s enough to get me through!
