Gazebo's

In the fine guide it says something along the lines of "gazebos take upother peoples camping space... please leave them at home"

Not sure how tough stewards might be with offenders, but there are a few threads about where people mention security threatening to confiscate them last year. Do a search, you should find it. was being discussed fairly recently.

Bring a spare tarp if you need to. They can be hoisted with flag poles/spare gazebo poles brought along. Can be attached between tents for sun/rain shades and can be taken down way more easier than a gazebo.

The thing with Gazebos is that on the whole, they are placed in the communal area of tent circles. So even if they weren't there, there will be little to no extra camping space.

There's nothing wrong with a gazebo sited in the middle of a group of tents. In fact it's almost essential as a sun shade or a rain shield.

Unless the field we're camping in is obscenely busy I'll be putting up a Gazebo inbetween mine and all my mates' tents: in 2007 the rain was SOOOO bad and it was only with those that made it a bit easier to get under and sort yourself out a bit before getting into the tent.

It's not like we'll all have one, it's just to be shared between about 7 tents.

Does anyone think we'll get it confiscated or taken down by stewards?

Unless anything has cahnged I doubt there will be a problem.

Gazebos are a pain in the arse if they are being used to take up & reserve space, but if they are being used as you describe I don't see how any one will object

Camp Stewards have come around most years checking that everyone is being fair with the amount of land they are taking up. But last year they warned that security were on the verge of declaring a site-wide ban and tearing them all down. Nothing happened though.

I'm not taking one this year, the forecast looks great anyway.

we usually take a gazebo, how else are you supposed to get a bbq going for food if it's lashing it down?

Plus last time we were camped by the path and it became quite a social thing when people used it for shelter

We put up a small tent under our gazebo last year to pacify the space patrol people. Took it down after the first day when they were satisfied the site was full and settled.
