wellies or boots

personally i find wellies incedibly uncomfortable to walk about in all day but others find them ideal.

my personal choice is good goretex hiking boots with some goretex gaiters over the top to keep the laces and the bottom of the trousers free of mud. i can walk through ankle deep puddles in them and not get wet, and they still feel like i'm walking on air at the end of the day.

It's an age old question this one, must have been asked at least 150 times by now, and the answer...It's personal, me and my mate love our Wellies, hunters all the way! and I have been going since 1992. However we meet our Glasonbury family (Friends from other parts of the country that we have met over the years at Glastonbury) and the ladies among them swear by walking boots and gaitors. The only way to find out will be trial and error I am afraid. ;)

If the weather just happens to be a bad one, gaiters may work, but will still be a pain in the arse to take off. They will be caked in mud (or worse ;) ) but you'll still have to use your hands to take them off. At least with wellies you can kick them off with your feet.

Just my humble opinion ;)

Oh, and there's already a large thread on boots etc...

I wore walking boots up until Saturday lunch time in 2007. They were fine but I wasn't entirely confident in them going through the deep stuff. I must have bought the last pair of wellies left - they fitted perfectly and were entirely comfortable for the last 2 days. Suppose I just got lucky.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
