Florence and the Machine

I like what I've heard, and I've also seen her live at Brixton with the NME tour (Glasvegas, White Lies, Friendly Fires).

She was great. It was a rather large venue for her to perform in, but she had the crowd enjoying themselves.

I'm looking forward to the album, and I'll see you at the JP stage when she's on.

Saw her on the NME tour, and at Leeds last year - was easily the surprise highlight of the weekend at Leeds, and very good on the tour, not sure what she'll be like on a bigger stage though (can't remember, isn't it the other stage they're playing? )... definitely worth catching anyway, one of the best new voices around atm ;)

Edit: Ooh, John Peel stage, sorry about that >.<

I saw her at Brixton earlier this year when her dress fell apart and she had to finish the performance in her undies. A model professional and the boys down the front thoroughly enjoyed it

I saw her last year up at Trash City on the Friday I think, after receiving tip-offs on this very forum. She was excellent, despite it not being particularly busy up there at the time. We also went to see her again in the Queen's Head on the Sunday, where she was again excellent.

The wife went to see her at a church in Salford last night and said it was the best she'd seen her, and one of the best gigs she's been to (she's been to a LOT of gigs, working in music) and will most definitely be seeing her at this year's Glastonbury.

My Florence and the Machine story..

At the end of last year I was chatting with Harry Enfield (I'm not normally so cool, it was the Eye annual signing after an Evening with Private Eye at the NT!), and he said to me "Have you heard of Florence and the Machine?". Strangely I had seen the name somewhere, but didn't know the music, so to be safe I said "No". "Well", he replies, "you're not cool then". Apparently they were No 17 in the Observer "Cool List" for 2009. Quick as a flash, I replied "Where are you on the list", and he just glared at me!

THE GLORIOUS ONE-TIME WIT, MR SAM CRAWLEY, TRIUMPHS!!

Anyway, I'll go back to being an anonymous broke loser now! :P

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
