From what I remember having read it elsewhere :

Take plenty of fuel, you will use more than one fuel block at a time apparently about 4 will make a cup of tea,

don't use firelighters as fuel they blow up in your face,

remember you can poison yourself with the fumes - make sure you don't use a bigger tin over a smaller tin as a lid it will make you ill (the fumes get trapped under the bigger, top, tin & end up being absorbed into the contents of the bottom tin which is what makes you ill)

hexi blocks are a f**king pain in the arse, but they do work. they are what the army get in their 24 hour ration packs, and whilst in the army cadets I used them on 40 or so occasions. personally, I would dig a small hole, fill it with charcoal, and light it with firelighters, you can boil a kettle on that, and use it to cook. a lot less f**king about than a hexi burner, and you can cook or boil water for more than one person.
