Hi

This is my 7th Glasto. However its my 1st alone  Last year I took my son, the year before my wife, the year before that my lover and the years before that.........i cant remember. This year is my first year alone. Son, it rained and was muddy, wife it rained and was muddy, lover it rained and was muddy. Oh.,..........I took my brother once also.......guess wot, It rained and was the muddiest ever. I remember 'walking' across from one side of the Other Stage to the other, it was around 2am, which is a looooonnnng walk, specially when its like 6 inches of mud. After getting halfway across and knackered I saw my life flash before me, I couldnt lift one leg over the other (mud, dope, booze) and could see the headlines in the Glasto News...........Old Man Found .......A statue of an old man was found today in the middle of the Other Stage, perfectly formed. Not a statue but me caked in mud, dead and dried out. I did eventually make it out.

Anyway I'm all alone this year, no one will come with me.........sigh.

You could always try to find a packet of Strand cigarettes.

It was one of the most catastrophic advertising campaigns of the late 50's. The advertisement showed a man alone lighting up on a street corner – the slogan was 'You're never alone with a Strand'

But people got the idea that here was a cigarette for Billy No-Mates. Sales were awful and the cigarette brand was rapidly withdrawn.

There's a Glasto crowd congregatating and following each other on Twitter (search #twisto on Twitter itself or visit www.twitterbury.co.uk) and there's a plan forumulating to meet up at 3pm on the Thursday at Jazz World (Brother's Bar) so everyone can say hello and get stuck in...

If you're on Twit don't forget the main glasto thread at #glasto too.

Last year was my eighth Glasto - and I was there alone. (I had also been there once in 1992 alone). It is certainly a different experience, and can be a bit lonely at times.

Sometimes my wife comes with me, other times not - not this year. But this time I've got two mates going with me (one a virgin). We are all in our mid-forties, tend to hang out up in the Healing Fields, Stone Circle areas, and hit everything from the Dance-tent to the Circus tent, with the occasional visit to Babylon.

If you want to meet up with us, get in touch at [email protected]

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
