The Third Headliner

There are so many reasons that a reformed GNR won't play.

AC/DC are more likely even though they have a show on the friday!

Doesn't rule out Axl Rose and his karaoke pub band though...

I reckon smart moneys on Rammstein, maybe Green Day as it's only one date so the could still do their own shows later in the summer, seems like too much fuss to be FOB or Nickelback but I refuse to rule them out.

I find it funny that the organisers are more excited about this year which is potentially GNR Slipknot and Def Leppard over the year it Tool Metallica and GNR. I thought the line up that year was awesome. Especially compared to this years line up. Certainly a far more relevent line up that year.

Slipknot and GnR have new albums out that both did pretty well. Back in '06 GnR hadn't released anything for decades, and Metallica hadn't since St. Anger. Wasn't that more relevant that year.

That said, i maintain that if it is GnR, their special guests will be another big band.

I just find it really hard to believe it's gonna be guns n roses. mainly due to downloads director's interview where he said the third headliner was gonna be a band that people would not believe they managed to get. Considering gnr played in 06, they've proved they weren't that hard to get

But from the interviews earlier in the year the directors would have you believe the festival would have the line up of all line ups and if I'm being honest, I think what has been announced has been a joke (with the exception of a small handful of bands). And there isn't any reason to believe the third headliner won't be in the same vein. I mean do they genuinely think def leppard, journey, white snake and zz top are a catch!! Contemparise man!!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
