Thats because they aren't one, Olivivu cant tell the difference between a band that are popular and a band that make pop music.

Yes Kings of Leon have become very popular but again that doesn't mean they make pop music. If anything they have moved in the direction of stadium rock. Also are you forgetting there debut album reached number 3 and they played 2nd at Glasto on the back of that album. They have always been a popular band (though not to the extent they are now.)

Stop kidding yourself.

It's not a taboo to like pop...and you clearly like the new Kings of Leon stuff and are trying to make it 'ok' by dismissing it's pop credentials.

If you like it, you like it. It's music, not a filthy habit...

What is it people like about them?

They're so watered down and boring.

There's plenty of genuine drum n bass out there that blows this shite away.

I suppose it's like:

Duffy - Watered down soul for the masses.

Amy Winehouse - Watered down jazz/rnb for the masses.

And so on.

You stop kidding yourself that anyone cares what you have to say on this site??

You have had like 34 accounts.. Get a life..

I don't like Kol's new album compared to the old ones, but there is no way it is pop..

They have sold out. They've become a pop band and are making a lot more money, for the record company more than anyone I suspect, out of it.

'Sex on Fire' and 'Use Somebody' are out and out pop songs. Most of the remainder of the album isn't quite so pop, but it remains a pop-rock record.

It's not a case of them being a popular rock band, it's a case of them switching demographic into the pop consciousness. They are massively popular now and are appearing in outlets that a straightforward rock band wouldn't.

They are not a pop-band to the same degree as McFly, nowhere near, but they sit nicely alongside the likes of The Kooks, Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand, The Kaiser Chiefs etc now. Not as far down the pop lane, but in the same precinct.

don't do that, please come back! we all love you and need you!

what are you looking for? a hug?

you said this last year and got all our hopes up. i agree, you've got one or two useful things to say but theres no need to put down everyone who disagrees with you. ever heard of the multiple plausible hypothesis theory?

there is no right answer to anything and many answers contain part of another idea entirely.

just cos you think you're right, it doesn't mean you are, and it especially doesn't make someone else wrong
