  1. That looks a very decent line up to me (with I guess a few more to come) I probably can't make Bearded this year and I've given up on my chance in the resale for Glastonbury as I had to commit to a family thing. So this looks right up my strasse (as they say in Dusseldorf)
  2. Check out Morganway from that lineup. Excellent live slightly surprised they are on Maui Waui rather than Woodland. Not sure if I can make BT this year as I have some potential life clashes (weddings 'n' that) but I have to say the lineup looks better and better. If you are not familiar with Holy Moly and the Crackers check them out too.
  3. Nothing much there for me, only Max Richter in my "want to see, never have" list... ...meh.
  4. Very sad to hear. RIP Christine and thank you.
  5. I mentioned this festival in my note about Bearded Theory and then discovered that this little festival did not have a thread of its own. For shame. Oddly they have announced most of the line-up already and if this mix of bands chuffs your chuffer, then I can recommend it with the proviso that it is very early in the year for visiting "under canvas" and as I'm local I shall be attending on a daily basis alternating driving duties with chums. I think it's a cracking line-up. Tickets are currently just shy of £90 for weekend non-camping. The stages are all in tents so even if wet it won't dampen your experience. Done this festival a couple of times including its previous location in Weardale and it is pretty relaxed and decent beer and food at reasonable (festival) prices.
  6. Yeah same, l really enjoyed last year (first time) but slightly worried about the change of organiser and perhaps a push to make money at the expense of the feel of the festival. Depending on lineups (assuming I fail to get Glasto tix) I would look to this Beautiful Days, EOTR or Green Man for my "largeish" festival fix. I have already booked a small local festival (Northern Kin) for early in the year.
  7. Chatting during a gig is rude to the artiste playing and inconsiderate to those wanting to listen to the band. Don't be a dick if you want to chat go stand at the bar with your mates, go have a p!ss or get something to eat. Thanks.
  8. It all got a bit Spinal Tap 😄
  9. A pretty good barometer of the demand to see a non-touring/split/dead band has to be the number and popularity of tribute bands. In the case of Oasis, very popular indeed. Their influence over British music is still there (though I struggle to see anything beyond the first two albums that is worthy of attention). And let's be honest a "reformed" Oasis only has to have Noel and Liam no one cares about the other guys.
  10. Went this year for the first time and loved it so much will definitely return next year. The festival has a lovely relaxed vibe (the only warning I would give to first time attendees is that it will get quite cold overnight if you are under canvas). Other than that the weather was perfect this year, only rain I encountered was stepping out of a dance tent early on Sunday morning You have to hope that the new owners know what they have bought and the goodwill and clientele that make the festival what it is and don't attempt to turn it into a cash cow.
  11. Hugely enjoyed Bearded this year and next year if we fail we're going to double up BT and EOTR.
  12. Mac on Friday, Prince on Saturday - you heard it hear first...
  13. Cheers fella nice to know that you are doing OK. I did see that you had posted again on the thread so I knew that you had come through it. I wish you love and peace.
  14. I feel like there should be rule for this. If you can't turn up on by Thursday at latest and if you leave before midnight on the Sunday you should be blacklisted. (Yes, I know I'm being judgemental but I am also being a little tongue in cheek)! But really if you miss so much of "The Experience" are you getting it? Harumph, grump over, enjoy the last day and good luck with the ticket gods in the sale everyone.
  15. I'm sure that the license for Glastonbury dictates the number of tickets they can sell, they can't just add another 30k tickets to help cash flow and from what we know of the Eavii I would be very surprised to hear that they had done this. I think you're right, I was at Bearded a few weeks ago and it does feel strange to be in a crowd after two years of being 2m from everyone! I found that I didn't want to be near the front. The first day felt hardest but the vibe is still there. Good to read people reaching to Alex. Hope he is OK.
  16. Hi Alex sorry to read that you are struggling get yourself to the medical tent and have a chat with someone. It probably isn't your friends being weird it is your "black dog" lying to you, they probably haven't noticed that you are struggling. It is easy to miss the signs even in someone you are very familiar with. Talk to them they will help you. Most importantly take care of yourself allow yourself not to feel 100% it happens to all of us sometimes especially when we are telling ourselves we "SHOULD" be having the time of our lives. Mental health is important. You are important. Love and peace. Sorry I'm sat at home and can't head over to Ped Gate D to give you a hug but consider yourself hugged. For those struggling with overcrowding, take your time, don't be an arsehole, look out for others around you, check your maps and avoid crush points - there are multiple ways to get to most of the stages if you take your time and choose a less direct route. Be beautiful everyone.
  17. Feeling a little conflicted at the moment. That moment of arrival at the farm is so joyous. Missed out on tickets this time and hoping that the ticket gods smile on me in October for 2023. I'll watch some of the coverage but as it is often very centred on the Pyramid Stage and performers it won't really get to the bits of the festival I love most like Avalon and Park. Enjoyed Bearded Theory a few weeks ago but missing not having a festival to look forward to this summer now.
  18. I was there too for Mr. Kiwanuka - unforgettable Last time I tried to get in was for King Gizz and I was defeated by a wall of punters ten deep outside the hut - it can be very busy if word gets round of a popular act! Really missing the farm today. Buggger.
  19. Yup agreed, highlighted some great stuff I missed. Of course you can't see everything even at a relatively small festival. I have to say that I didn't have any problems getting into Woodland with the exception of trying to go from Pallet to Woodland after Patti Smith to see Peter Hook, but we made a decision to watch Patti's whole set knowing we'd struggle to get in to see PH but we managed to get in in time to see him finish with "Love Will Tear Us Apart".
  20. Buggger. OK I'll pop them into Flickr
  21. Some random pictures from my weekend. These are linked from my Google account so hopefully everyone can see them? I normally use Flickr but I had uploaded first to Google to share with my brother so I tried this and it worked (or appeared to!)
  22. Just got back up t' North (A1 closed near Rhetford) took me about six hours as against two and a half to get there. Grrrrr. First time at BT but deffo not the last. Lovely vibe. Minor gripe first, the loos at the far end of the campervan field were disgusting pretty much all weekend. Not the fault of staff, people should KNOW how to use the festival "Turdis" if they have been to a festival before, they are pretty ubiquitous but people plainly weren't pre-flushing before "dumping". The Headliners were all pretty damnably excellent, with the possible exception of Dreadzone who left me cold (probably just-not-my-thing). Not a Placebo fan so not "that" familiar with their stuff so didn't really notice the new songs, but really enjoyed them. Patti Smith was superb, especially the last half dozen songs. I feared for the set when she read the poem but one poem in context is fair enough and she performed it with passion. I had flashbacks of watching Art Garfunkel in the Acoustic Tent at Glasto and having to put up with interminable "poems" of his between songs... Flaming Lips just put on a perfect show and to end with fireworks removed that awkward "encore or not" moment. Highlights, many, Dirty Old Folkers in Maui Waui were hilarious, we managed to get into Woodland from Patti Smith just in time for "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Incidentally, at the head of the queue there was a guy getting medical attention who looked unconscious, the stewards assured us he had been seen by a doctor who had put him in the recovery position. I trust he was OK? Anyone know? Baka Beyond in Magical Sounds were great. The Hives were brilliant and great entertainers. Dubioza Kolektiv, wonderful. So many great sets. Frank Turner, Ferocious Dog, Misty In Roots, the Doonicans, I could go on... Thanks to everyone there; working, volunteering or just being a "good festivaller". Peace out.
  23. I suspect that he is referring to a "bun" or perhaps a "stottie"? Very odd 🙃
  24. Searching for "Bearded Theory Bars" gives you this page Bearded Bars (beardedtheory.co.uk) ...again not listed on the website!
