  1. Having some lunch and a pint, watching all the paying punters arrive, and looking forward to taking some freshers to see Mik Artistik on the Croissant Neuf Bandstand later.
  2. I'm arriving on site this coming Sunday, 18th and I can't quite get my head around the fact that the Sunday after that I'm seeing Elton John play the Pyramid Stage. Elton flipping John!
  3. There was definitely one last year - unfortunately it was by the longdrops on the run between Leftfield and West Holts, in one of the noisiest (and smelliest) parts of the festival...
  4. Getting drunk at Glastonbury hasn't been anywhere near as much fun since the demise of the Wine Bars 😞
  5. Get changed in a compost loo. They’re massive! Much better than the long drops!
  6. I just take my chair everywhere now (apart from my litterpicking shifts, obvs). People can sneer about ‘chairw*nkers’ all they like, but if I’m getting up at 5am to pick other people’s discarded beer cans out of the mud with a metal ankle and a buggered knee, I can sit in a chair to watch a band later on, and f**k ‘em 😂
  7. I’m in the West Country. It’s been 20C - 22C in the day this week but 6C overnight… 🥶
  8. We were litterpicking from 6am and I think we had rainbows in the sky on Friday, Saturday and Monday first thing. And yes, I had to ‘brush’ my tent when I got it home to get the sand off!
  9. Not masses to add except to warn you that I speak from bitter, feeling-ripped-off experience a few years back: a box of Tampax from the general stores on site will likely cost double or more than it would in Superdrug, so come prepared!
  10. I am - working for Sebastian's Action Trust. We'll have a big blue banner by our tents. Come and say hi!
  11. Most volunteers sorted their places out months ago either as a Plan A, or Plan B after the first sale. So it’s likely to be slim pickings now. Keep an eye out here and on Facebook for last minute opportunities, and get on the mailing lists for the main charities ready for next year.
  12. Crikey, that's a very good point... Where's me Equity card? 😄
  13. I’d stick with WaterAid just because a) they haven’t messed you about and b) the campsite up behind Worthy Farm is lovely - it’s next to the litterpickers.
  14. Got my shifts through. After 5 years litterpicking John Peel I’m going to be litterpicking theatre and circus. Chuffed to bits! (as if I need to spend *more* time around there!)
  15. Hmm... it looks like the John Peel/Woodsies shift is still Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon so I wonder if I'll still be there or moved elsewhere? I'll check with our coordinator after Easter. As long as I'm still on early mornings I don't really care what days I have to do, but I must admit I do like a Big Day on Wednesday and having to work Thurs would annoy me a bit...
  16. Not our shift details, no.
  17. Non-charity team recycling only, apparently. Those of us who volunteer via a charity are hearing separately.
  18. There'll likely be a big recycling crew bar crawl again on the Tuesday night. I adore backstage at Acoustic but they're a bit tricky once the festival starts, but everywhere else is pretty much available to you as a crew member - and Maceo's (behind Block 9) is open pretty much 24/7.
  19. Off to Pale Waves at Kentish Town Forum next week. Not a fan of the venue but looking forward to the band. Saw Bleach Lab and She’s In Parties in Brizzle last week (my GOD the lavs in the Exchange are revolting…) and both are definitely Ones To Watch.
  20. Hate to tell you but the Albert Hall gig was brilliant. As was the Brighton one. And Sam Sweeney needs more recognition.
  21. I saw her in Bristol last weekend and thought it was excellent- although her voice needed to be stronger (that’s on the sound desk and the big group of 14 year olds who just SCREAMED for most of the gig though.)
  22. Gosh, very sad news! I’m not sure I ever met him (I’m terrible with names and usually drunk) but remember his posts very fondly over many years. RIP.
  23. Yeah, it was an anniversary thing (like 2020 was Glastonbury's 50th birthday not the 50th festival)
  24. There was some (what seemed to me) quite aggressive checking of wristbands late on Thursday and late on Friday so maybe they had word some folk were on site who shouldn’t be…? When we left just after midnight on Sunday / Monday morning there were LOADS of cars parked on verges / in lay-bys on the lane over to Llangynidr and quite a few folk walking about. I guess it’s got to be pretty simple to get in if you’re capable of jumping a small fence.
