Not everyone is as obsessed with repeat bookings being boring or this tired argument of people not being able to top a performance they gave x amount of years ago.

Just because it was a cherished performance by you doesn't mean they shouldn't be booked again to be enjoyed by the many people who weren't there / never saw it / want to see it again.

I think it’s a bit entitled TBH. Some of us on here are lucky enough to get to go repeatedly. That won’t be the case for thousands and thousands of others. They won’t be rolling their eyes because ‘oh no it’s Arctic Monkeys again’ or ‘Coldplay again’. This might be a once in a lifetime chance for them to see a huge act they can’t get/afford tickets for.

Coldplay for example are just about the most reliable stadium fillers in the world. Having them at the top of the bill as their only U.K. show of the year, is absolutely massive to the average punter. You wouldn’t want them or anyone else booked every other year but it’s been 8 years, that’s not unreasonable (and number of festivals doesn’t matter, Covid broke that calculation). I’d say the same if they’d lined up the Foos or Sheeran or Adele.

There’s that video of her on the disabled platform for Macca having the time of her life

She mentioned it in an interview with Vogue as her favourite memory of playing live

I see the Kings of Leon dates....so what was made of all their Glastonbury Instagram reels being posted? Just a coincidental promotion of their tour?

Unless they’re doing a Churnups or have grown out of their egos and are subbing it doesn’t seem to have much meaning

Like Friday night 2013, an absolute smorgasbord of fantastic gigs all over the site.  I didn't get to attend last year, so just like the Cure in 2019, that PSB gig was a great memory of my last gig on the farm to tide me over until I get back.  I have a feeling that we'll have more than one night like that this year, based on the whispers on the wind about who is likely to play.

Hopefully we do. Was at both them sets you mention and they were both pure magic. 2013 was nuts, clashes all over the place on Friday then I struggled for a headliner on the Sunday. Such is life I suppose.

Woah Jesus! I get opinions and takes and but there no way Pet Shop Boys are being the greatest thing of anything in any year and 2022 on paper was not a great year for me. Pyramid was dire overall.

Probably should have stopped at ‘opinions’

I regret missing it, but at the same time I don’t regret seeing Kendrick who offered up similar levels of all-timer.

One of them terrible/amazing nights where it was impossible to win/lose whatever choice you made

Another vote here for the Jungle live experience.  It is a joyful, fun filled affair in my experience.  It's going to take someone I'm really desperate to see to pull me away from their headline slot.

Agreed, excellent live band. They were superb on West Holts in 2019.

This forum is hilarious sometimes. On the one hand we have people calling for nobody lower in stature than the greatest artists in the world to headline the pyramid, and then we have people calling for someone called SZA who only a tiny minority of the world have even heard of. There must be a middle ground.

Why must there? People have different opinions.

So I’m confused now… what’s locked and what’s not locked by the people in the know. Seemed to be suggestions there that Coldplay are out.

Nobody has seriously suggested Coldplay are out, that was kind of the point.

  11. Theorising about SZA….

Olivia Rodrigo seems the absolute obvious choice to me but she’s been very deliberate about her touring so far, what if she doesn’t feel ready? I know she enjoyed Glastonbury in 2022 and her tour dates line up but what if she’s got a plan to visit and watch a headline gig or two before taking the step up next year?

KOL on the surface would be insane to turn down headlining at this stage in their career. But what if they’re tied up with the contracts for their Arena/Silverstone/Bristol gigs?

What if the only slot SZA will take now is headlining?

    (strokes chin thoughtfully)

Emily - be an all-time legend and book Dua, O-Rod and SZA as the top 3.

Be worth taking a day off to watch the meltdown on Social Media

I mean, I guess it's not unlikely they would fall on their sword as a favour to Emily if she had three other ace cards in her hands. But the Madonna - Stevie goose chase suggests that that's far from the case.

I can’t see it. From their POV, I know they love the farm and all that, but without any other U.K. gigs this year it’s a huge thing for them in terms of exposure. They may not be touring in 2025 either. From GFLs POV if they’re going from Madonna or Stevie W to KOL/SZA/O-Rod Coldplay are the anchor. Having the biggest ticket shifter around that isn’t called T Swift on the bill becomes an even bigger deal than before.

I don't think there's any Coldplay out noise.  I made a joke about it being funny if it had happened, but I don't think anyone thinks it has.

There was a bit of excited chat on the other place but it did just seem to come from one poster not including them in a guess, another poster going ‘have they dropped out?’ and then the usual pile on.

Is that genuinely all there is to the SZA in, Coldplay out noise?

As far as I can see. I was at home yesterday and had a fair bit of time on my hands and I haven’t seen anything else.

Sounds to me like the ‘people in the know’ don’t have much of a clue.

And the rest of us have been standing by our beds for 24 hours as instructed 😂

Or they’re dead right and two have been locked in for ages while the third has changed

  17. We’re definitely reaching the pre-line up rumour frenzy. SZA has come from a poster on Reddit where ‘a friend works for another booker’ and chat that Coldplay aren’t doing it based on someone on Discord asking if Coldplay aren’t doing it. Throw us a bone Em!

If SZA does not play Glasto this year I'd give up on it lol.

There were rumours of being a Kendrick guest. Then a Glasto shaped hole last year and everyone thought she would play then.

Anything making any more likely this year

I’d love to see her there. Headlining sounds a massive stretch (far less likely than O-Rod or KOL unless they aren’t actually available) but fingers crossed they’ve bagged her.

Why are so many people annoyed that this discussion exists?

I’ve no idea. Seeing people open a thread called ‘2024 Headliners’ and then complain about seeing discussion about the 2024 Headliners is bizarre.

  20. 29 minutes ago, TiZuff said:

agreed but if its last minute cancellations what choice do they have? plus you know like sometimes you have 2 rock bands headline, why not 2 pop acts?

Exactly. Plus it’s not like anyone listening to the radio this afternoon is thinking All American Bitch is by Dua Lipa or Training Season is by Olivia Rodrigo. They’re only similar in that they’re “pop” and female.

I know I was making loads of noise on here about KOL earlier but I've just remembered was not a phase where someone claimed to have info O Rod had been bumped up to headliner at some point a few weeks back?

I thought there was something about her being the back up plan if Stevie W didn’t make it (which was always a possibility given age, illness etc)
