Actually... what is Sam Fender doing next year?

If we are considering a "when not if" scenario regarding Fender would they push him forward a year if they were in a pinch?

Got to get that third album out I reckon. If he does that and it’s even just decent he’s the shoeiest of shoe ins for 2025.

Regarding Springsteen doing consecutive nights - I think it's far more likely that one or both of the Nijmegen shows gets moved than him playing in the Netherlands one night and Glastonbury the next. There's enough space in the schedule to accommodate that if the motivation to play Glastonbury was there.

Either move both shows forward a day, or move the second show from the 29th to the 25th. Each scenario would preserve the "no consecutive nights" pattern and free up the Sunday at Glastonbury.

Or more likely still, it's not him.

If you see something like that happen it’s time to very quickly get on whichever bookies  sites offer odds on Glastonbury.

Since the sun pinched the Madonna story from the mail can we expect the reverse to happen now?

Might not fit in with the 2 female headliners thing though a get out could be the legend spot treated as a fourth headliner.  Really wanted to seee Madonna but I’m  well up for the boss. But hes in Holland on the Saturday, bit of a push doing the farm the next day

Yeah I’d love it to be him but I’m not convinced.

    Was perfection.

Thats the right word. One of the few sets I’ve ever seen where I wouldn’t change anything. When I listen to it it’s pretty much always the full thing, start to finish.

I think if you think Coldplay and Killers are uninspiring then I think you've been to too many Glastonbury festivals. Those people who haven't been to many Glastonbury's will almost certainly think either or both are decent bookings even if they're not fans.

Having said that, I can't believe after saying that 2 headliners will be female they will change it to 2 male lead singer bands that have played the festival plenty of times before, even if Madonna has pulled out.

There must be plenty of good female acts that could step in.

Emily only ever said ‘might’ be two female headliners

That title can only be attributed after the event.

Someone made the very valid point that on paper Stormzy - Killers - Cure is a pretty uninspiring trio, and yet all three gave universally beloved performances.

Every set of headliners gets labelled ‘the worst ever’ by someone. It’s part of the Efestivals circle of life.

There are still good songs after All These Things - I love Midnight Show, for instance, and I know a lot of fans still have time for On Top. But I agree it's a very unbalanced album.

I remember seeing Muse play Origin in full at Reading in 2011, which has New Born, Bliss and Plug in Baby - the 3 big singles - in the first half, then the second got a bit more weird and out there, and those were the songs that I think a general festival audience would've gone "... what the hell is this?" at.

I was at that Muse set. Didn’t think it really worked. A mixed set is definitely better for a festival.

The only metric that really maters is how they go down on the night, on that basis 2019 was a roaring success.

Dua and Coldplay will both be equally well received I'd wager.

I only went to The Cure but there’s no doubt all 3 of them went over well. The Cure were absolutely brilliant, one of the best sets I’ve ever seen on the farm. Turned me into a fan.

  9. Wasn’t there some mad rumour that Dave  was playing but not headlining? Would be an easy bump up if so.

Or Olivia Rodrigo, could get on board with that. Though it does ruin the picture on my head where she’s on before Coldplay Saturday night.

Another plausible theory is that BST have shoved some extra bunce on the table for an exclusivity tag and she’s asked GF to match it.

Ok that does sound very plausible

  12. Something doesn’t add up.

Firstly, the quality of the writing and apparent confusion over what slot she was actually playing make it very hard to believe.

Secondly, surely the fee, production costs etc would be discussed very early on. Unless it kept changing it’s hard to believe critical factors like that would only just now be under discussion.

Thirdly, it’s that rag. f**k it.

Definitely not headliner but Sofia Kourtesis album is wonderful. It’s definitely a West Holts vibe.
She was great fun in Silver Hayes (I forget which stage) two years ago and I would imagine she’s come on a fair bit since then.

Yeah that Silver Hayes set was really good. A lovely Saturday afternoon vibe.

Well we say that, nearly everything that was played at Glastonbury made the following show set in America - no Bad or Out of Control, a different order and a few more songs, but they'd played everything they did there. Main change was the stage design ofc - more of a Zoo TV-style collection of screens than the OTT claw thing.

But yeah. At least give yourselves a few days to acclimatise to being back on European time ffs.

Ah so they tried to integrate it a bit. But yeah, crazy. I’d have thought they’d have known better.

I still think that's part of why U2's Glastonbury set was seen by some as a damp squib. Sure, it didn't help that it was pissing it down and that the band's in-ear monitors were faulty so they were all coming in on the wrong cues on the first song, but why on Earth would you schedule Baltimore Wednesday -> Glastonbury Friday -> Detroit Sunday? Just seems like a guaranteed burnout.

It was a weird decision. Especially as they were completely deviating from their tour setlist IIRC

This is exactly it. It’s hardly beyond the wit of man to get it sorted if the will is there. Whether it is or not is a different matter, though if BST is announced I’d be shocked if it didn’t happen.

Thats what it all hinges on with Madge now. At least one other festival announcement. Can’t see her doing the Big G as a one off.

Sure, but in 2008, he wasn’t as big. I wasnt at Glastonbury but saw him at Rock Werchter where he was 4th down the bill. He certainly wasn’t seen as that big then, and was headlining arenas, not stadia that year.

He still only subbed TITP in 2010
