I've added in some extra acts too in brackets, which can be taken seriously for West Holts (from the leaked playlist a couple months back that turned out to be true) but not for any of the other stages other than maybe James. No it didn’t. I think it would take a couple of mudbaths and a couple of years of disappointing headliners rather than 2016 where Adele and Coldplay did really well. -

Either way, regardless anyone's opinion on the lineup (so far), it's selling out in the usual manner and there'll be tens of thousands of people left unhappy because they were unsuccessful in both sales. Regardless of the impact of the first poster, no matter the weather, whoever the headliners are and (for now) whatever it costs.
Ticket sales were always likely to be good off the last couple of festivals. Elton, Macca, Killers, Kylie etc all looked great on TV and it’s been Sunny. A couple of years of rain and disappointing music is the only thing that will really slow things down. -

But tbh I don't believe her. I truly believe there will have been years in the past with less turnover. It's a weaker line up and there's so much financial problems people are suffering at the moment. I know people who've thrown there had in the ring, so I concede maybe it's confirmation bias from me. But it smacks of promoter speak to me. Obviously, we will never know one way or the other.
It is confirmation bias. You’re applying far too much weight to your own limited experience and your own completely subjective opinion. You’re doing so to the extent of accusing someone of outright lying in public. -

People can bitch and moan that Coldplay are there again all they want. But they'll still get by miles the biggest headliner crowd of the weekend, and put in a performance that the people there love (and that's coming from someone who'll probably be elsewhere).
They’ve been filling stadiums consistently around the world for 15 years now. They’re among the biggest of the big by that metric. -

This is the case with everything. The complainers shout the loudest.It also still somehow seems to be the case, in the year 2024, that some people out there are surprised that their own subjective opinion is not automatically shared by others.

I always took it as a challenge at festivals like that to smuggle in as much Vodka as I could. I still did it at TRNSMT last year even though I’m 47 and can afford to buy drinks from the bars. I just can’t be arsed queueing and, well it’s the principle of it.

My favourite thing about WG was their late night stuff. Deptford Soul, Motown etc. Good options that gave the night time slate a bit of variety. They should put that on Carhenge instead of the generic DJs they had any time I went past last year.

This makes no sense. Any gig anyone ever goes to could be the last one, or the last time they see that act. It’s also not clear how a Mobile Phone making an enjoyment more enjoyable increases with scarcity of said event.

Agreed.
2022 had Macca too, though there was still plenty of debate about the other two headliners. The post-Covid catch up meant that was stacked across the whole bill.
This time last year we were wrapped up in a huge debate about female headliners when in fact last year had 3 massive headliners that were all in different ways a bit of a coup for GFL.
This year is back to a more standard line up, we’ll see in the coming years if it’s a signpost but for now it doesn’t mean the festival is losing its lustre.

We build ourselves up for the first poster speculating some totally unrealistic names. Then when it drops we are disappointed and deflated. When stages start to drop their own posters the anticipation will build again and when we get stage and time splits we start moaning about clashes

Its just down to subjectivity who’s disappointed and who’s happy at this stage.
