My other big celebrity spots at the G are like Lauren Laverne, Martin Clunes,  a bunch of acts already like Hooky and Wayne Coyne who're already playing the c**t and the (recently widowed) Tilda Swinton.

Danced next to Marcus Brigstocke in The Gulley once. He had less rhythm than me but he was having a right old time of it

Haven't mentioned it in years to be fair.

But nevertheless it's also what happened.

Edit:  Story changed day to day? Get tae.

You bit quicker than I thought you would 😄

I feel the need to ask

But at the same time I feel like I'm expected to already know

Calgon claimed to have seen Swift knocking around the cider bus / longdrops / other festival landmark (story changed day to day) in 2019 before she was announced for 2020. Called her as a headliner after that and never let anyone forget it.

I'm lucky.  My kids and I have always shared a love of music and have a lot of crossover in taste.  His list is heavy on Let's Eat Grandma, Lana and Lorde, so right up my street.  We regularly share recommendations and go to gigs together when we can, he goes to Glastonbury every year and we meet up 2 or 3 times over the festival for a gig or just a catch up with a drink and a smoke (quietly being the highlight of my festival and sharing the Pheobe Bridgers gig with him in 22 is up there as an all time great moment at Glastonbury for me).

Put my tongue in cheek comment firmly in its place 😉😂

That does sound lovely tbh, always nice to share a gig with special ppl

My son and I have exchanged our top 100 songs playlists, when I put it on shuffle it's like spending the day at his place, which is nice as he lives overseas and I don't get to see him as often as I'd like.

Is the music acceptable though?  Or do you enjoy it because it's him, but it's actually making your ears bleed?

  6. No major surprises.  Moby's All Visible Objects has been my primary go to album when I've needed to get some work done.

My task for 2024 is to find RCBF's #1 fan and have it out with them

They are a lot smaller than The Hives. Disappeared for a few years and while they have a following they aren't particular known anymore.

Think they would be on mid-afternoon on Woodsies now.

    New album is good.

Haven't listened to the new one yet, need to give that a spin

100%. Metal festivals are my favourite. We've probably discussed it on here, but there's something about being part of that often maligned subculture that seems to galvanise everyone. Makes for a great atmosphere and sense of community. Glastonbury has that too, to a certain degree, but not as much overall

I love metal, but tbh I found an entire festival of it just a bit too much. Obviously loads of sub genres and styles, but overall there wasn't the variety that I want from a fest.

Having said that, Hellfest looks crazy good and I'd be willing to give my theory a test...

I really liked their first album even while feeling like they were probably doomed to be just another guitar band that comes and goes. Honestly hadn't realised they were still going until recently - feel like the perfect Glasto band for a sunny afternoon. Early on Other like The Hives or are they bigger than that?

Nah, Spector are well under the radar.  Be typical if they play the year I'm not going!

BC camplight last night in Nottingham, started great but the solo piano stuff in the middle was just awful for me, some real stinkers in there.

Support band Personal Trainer were amazing though, shame they only had a 30min slot

Rock City is also a great venue, first time there

Personal Trainer just left me a bit cold tbh.  I know ppl rave about them a bit and I can see what they're up to, but didn't do much for me!

  11. Third gig of the week on Saturday, knackered now! Dub Pistols supported by Barefoot Bandit.

BB were decent fun, if you like Gentlemen's Dub Club then they'd probably be up your street. Nice shift from reggae to latino rhythms in the tracks, good fun.

Pistols were...well they were the Dub Pistols! I knew exactly what I'd get, and didn't disappoint. Sometimes you just want to go to a gig knowing full well you'll enjoy it, even if you've seen pretty much the same set a dozen times before. Hit the spot.

  12. I like one photo from a gig to go in my folder as it's nice to have one visual reminder as a trigger for happy times. But that's my lot. The filming thing I will never get, not really.  Saw Soft Play supporting Prodigy on Monday, and as soon as they came into the crowd for walkabout all you could suddenly see was phone screens.  The guys are right there in front of you, just get involved!

Remember having to steam in watching Vintage Trouble at BDs a few years back because Ty's crowdsurf was about to go tits up as everyone was filming and no-one was there to carry him.  Ended up with maybe 2 of us holding him up before enough people realised and put their phones down to join in!

It was a great night, thanks! I’ve been going to BC gigs for 5-6 years now, when he was playing tiny rooms, so to see him on that stage last night was pretty awesome. The solo he did at the end, which I hadn’t heard live before, was worth the entry fee alone

Lovely stuff.  I expected him to finish with Take Off, was a little disappointed as I love that track but the solo was a lovely alternative

  14. +1 for Prodigy, saw them in Brighton on Monday night.  Agree with @Supernintendo Chalmers that Maxim does a grand old job, but it definitely misses Keith as a frontman if only to share the job between them.  To be fair to Maxim his vocals are still really strong, didn't miss a beat.  And they sound absolutely immense.  The tribute to Keith was right in the feels as well, think that effectively retiring Firestarter is a classy move.

Setlist wasn't an issue for me, love that it was quite Jilted Generation-heavy although I would have liked a bit more from Fat Of The Land.  Their Law probably my highlight.

    BC Camplight tonight!

You OK and just enjoying something else for a year?

Yes pal, all good.  Had a big summer this year with the RWC in France so need to save some pennies!  Decided it'd be far easier to just opt out rather than get a ticket and then face the prospect of having to return it in April because I don't have the readies.  If anything I'll probably end up at BDs at the end of the summer, bit cheaper and longer to save for it!

Opening a bar this year. No Klingons.
