I'm not going but managed to get 6 through the gates.
Feels absolutely perverse having got to the ticket page and not celebrating for myself 😂

It was raised in the glamping discussion, but I don't think we've ever had a dedicated thread documenting the history of the festival from those of you who were there.
Were you there in 1994 when Orbital introduced the indie kids to electronica? Did you participate in the riots of 1990? Maybe you were front row for Bowie in 2000? Do you remember parking your car in the Pyramid field? Just how good was the Growler? Who remembers Bourbon Street? Share your stories here...without it becoming a debate on whether it's better or worse nowadays.

Ditto, or thereabouts. Nothing screams cool at 24 like driving a blue Vauxhall Astra Belmont saloon. Check me out ladies.

Headliner? You mean every day with lunch/brunch 😄
Still one of the greatest things I've ever heard from a tent. 2 mates arguing in the morning "no mate, coke later, ket for breakfast"

Look at that photo. Look at the depths of despair in all of their eyes. Beaten. Defeated. Like a Labrador on a daytime telly RSPCA advert.
How do you think yer man from the Levellers would have reacted to being called Britpop in 1994? That shows all you all you need to know about their integrity. A medium sized back of cash and he'll willingly sh*t on his past. There's only one way of life, and that's your mortgage company's.
Seeing Mark on there has genuinely made me sad.

Oh the issue was more me and my more mainstream tastes rather than the festival itself
Oh yeah, meant it as it suited my eclectic tastes rather than the fest.

Not so much the FOMO that would be an issue … it’s the gap in my year . I tried beautiful days one year and it was far from the same for me
See I love BDs. Realistically I might well end up doing that with my brother as a cheaper option and not having to book as far in advance.

I haven't missed one since my first one in 2009 but I don't like the thought of it happening without me. I'd have serious fomo and have to have a complete media blackout!
Did you watch any coverage on the years you missed?
I didn't. Once I'd made the call not to go it was easier just not to pay it any attention, certainly meant I didn't have any FOMO at the time. Can still be a wee bit gutting when you look back or hear people talking about the sets you missed, but def easier than doing it at the time
-
I'll be back in the mix for 25, just a break next year. Won't be the first I've missed since I started (didn't go 11 or 14) so it's not such a massive thing.

Aw that’s sad but glad you’ve made peace with it … you can join @stuartbert two hats as the non representatation on the virtual meet … we’ve not seen you in a while
Had planned on joining Saturday actually but ended up out for dinner later than expected. I'll keep an eye open for the next one

Balti-pie dislikes this. You thought about volunteering? It takes just as much annual leave (more, if anything) but is a) notably lighter on the purse and b) a really different experience to that of a ticket holder. i very recommend, it doesnt suit everyone but now i'm in its hard to imagine paying again
Also, do we need to have a chat about you talking about yourself in the third person? 😄

I have kinda considered it, but annual leave is another factor. Plus if we find a holiday deal and I tell Mrs Q we can't do it because I'm a Glasto volunteer, that's a pretty quick way to divorce and / or violence.
I'm happy with it tbh. Had a good run and it's good to take a break every now and again. Plus I like the fact I'm making the call under my own steam rather than trying for avenues and not knowing whether it'll happen or not. Nice and easy to get my head in the right space well in advance!
-
Definitely not in for tickets in main sale. Unlikely to be in for resale unless a significant change to my finances happens.
-
Non-existent for me. Made the call that I'm not in the mix for 2024. Cash flow after a summer of fun, moving house and need for a proper holiday with Mrs Q next year all take priority. If some amazing cash windfall happens between now and April I'll be in for resale, but easier just to make the call now than get lucky on T-Day knowing I'll probably have to give it up later in the year.
Good luck to all having a crack!

This is what I come to this thread for. Nal's seemingly endless list of legends slot-appropriate acts.

‘Bigger deal’ is debatable, but considering he’s more recent and so therefor more kids and young adults are gonna be interested, he’d almost certainly pull a much bigger crowd, and his voice isn’t exactly in tip top shape there’s days - I believe he does a whole lot of holding the mic out to the crowd whenever it gets even remotely challenging.
He's been doing that for 20 years

A lot would agree but hes released 12 albums, 11 of them number 1. Also had 2 number 1 greatest hits albums. More than qualified.
Oh don't get me wrong it's an entirely personal view, and I can see why he'd be a good fit for the slot. I'd just be very much elsewhere
