  1. IIRC Emily said something years ago about giving artists, and in particular female artists who have historically been massively underrepresented at festivals, the biggest stage, audience and platform possible to make that step up in their career and go on to play bigger stages elsewhere. I suppose the disadvantage with encouraging the pyramid crowd to disperse out around site is that it holds so many people during the festival it makes crowds elsewhere at other stages and areas much more manageable in size.
  2. Setify can make you Spotify playlists of any artist from any gig which you can then obviously download for offline if that helps!
  3. What's the feeling, are we getting anything today? Just to kick the bank holiday weekend off nicely?
  4. Also maybe it was just me but did the high concentration of mixed syrups and cider make it smell like vomit whenever you were near it? Lovely stuff.
  5. Relate with this a lot. For me queuing to get in somewhere for hours feels like a waste of precious time at Glasto - more often than not I will go with the intention of trying to see a specific act and found a queue for miles so just wandered around it for a bit instead, got forced through the one way system, had a dance at something random and then found myself elsewhere on site until the early hours.
  6. Don't get me wrong I do totally agree, I do I hope it's a massive celebration of us being together too - maybe it's just me being cynical but I'd prefer to do that by actions and not by being constantly reminded of how shit it was
  7. I am bracing myself for cringe statements about "getting through it" and "being together again at glasto" from a lot of bands.
  8. JP for me... I don't know what it is but I have never got to grips with that stage. I think because a lot of the headliners tend to be acts that are always doing the rounds anyway, and that it's sort of inside, I think I would feel like I was at Manchester Academy and not Glasto, when I could be having my mind blown at West Holts instead.
  9. Just looking back at past WH headliners Leon Bridges doesn't seem to sit right with me on gut feeling and purely because it already seems like two contemporary headline act are nailed down and the older / legendary type act seems to be missing from current lineup. e.g. George Clinton, Earth Wind + Fire, Bryan Ferry, The Jacksons, Wu-tang, Chic...
  10. Much appreciated! Might give it a shot... Though I can see me getting to our usual spot in Paines and throwing the bags down haha
  11. Tagged this question onto the end of a post the other day - but I'll just ask directly! What's the deal with Pennards, looking at these posts doesn't seem like many people go there? Anyone got any experience? We've done Paines for years but now all our mates are in WV so it's just me and partner. We love Greenfields stuff and tend not to get back to our tent until about 5/6am anyway so Pennards seems logical? edit; we're tuesday night queuers so shouldn't be too much of a problem getting in?
  12. Normally we have a decent spot behind the lock ups in Paines which has served us very well for many years and tends not to get busy even late into Weds - this year however it's just the two of us and the rest of our mates are in Worthy View, so we were thinking squeezing a single tent somewhere in Pennards. Obviously I know it has a bit of a rep from my time at Glasto but it gets us nice and close to some of our favourite areas in greenfields, plus our mates in WV - my question is, is Pennards as bad as people make out?? We tend to be out exploring until about 4/5am anyway, sleeping after that until late morning, maybe it's the best spot for us?!
  13. Second this - the sound in that place is shocking. I've been to about 3 of those Castlefield gigs and I get the impression a big portion of the crowd either get complimentary work based tickets, or just get tickets for a laugh / not necessarily fans of the band they're seeing but fancy a big piss up in the sun in Manchester. Our office sometimes gets offered freebies to go by suppliers or for networking with clients. So the vibe has always been a bit tense with groups of pissed lads for every gig I've been to there.
  14. Been staring at this for ages getting excited, this is great. Wondering if in a similar vein to the "walking times" table doing the rounds, if anyone has ever plotted on a map the best / least busy routes between stages? I suppose it fluctuates depending on when acts finish around the site, but as a general rule of thumb for example I would always avoid pyramid field if I am storming it from West Holts to John Peel... Or at least enter at the very back of Pyramid field. There must be some good shortcuts people use!
