  1. Completely agree. Found myself staying and enjoying. For years there were festivals I wouldn’t even join. Also, not SH or SEC but San Remo has had some of the most electric atmospheres the last two years. A bit of a “selfie” vibe, but a really keen crowd.
  2. Admit it…a reunion would be a great gig 😄 Probably big enough for the legends slot.

    2024 Headliners

Not sure if having female members makes them a female headliner, but after their pyramid slot last year I don’t think Wolf Alice are too far off. Certainly headlining Other in next few years at least.
  4. Maybe I’m just dragged to more music by my friends, but I remember years ago the constant interactions in little settings with actors etc.. Now it seems to just be raves as someone mentions above. Don’t get me wrong, it does still feel away from the real world. But more so the almost “can take what you want, when you want” type feeling rather than anything truly “wtf was that” experience
  5. If you’re not offered (or will ever be offered) headline, foolish for Duran Duran not to take legends slot. If done well with a keen crowd, it arguably has a bigger impact than being a headliner.
  6. Apologies if this is elsewhere (and ignore if it is) but I really am finding myself less interested in the SE corner each passing year. It’s just a lot of aimless (off your tits) wondering and I feel the weird interaction I loved has dwindled somewhat? I’ve only been going since 2008 so not sure what came before, and appreciate any big revamp at Glasto is a big undertaking and they prefer to slowly build stuff up, but do feel a “fresh” restart would be cool. Amazingly found myself in Silver Hayes a lot this year - about time they made it a viable alternative. Anyone feel the same?
  7. But aren’t they sh*t though?
  8. Will headline other in two years. I do love seeing artists be as overwhelmed as I would be if I was playing 😄
  9. Maybe I’m bitter and wounded from years of ticket day stresses, but quite honestly I don’t believe these people should be given free tickets. If anything they offer nothing economically to the festival (save perhaps boost its profile, which isn’t really needed these days). if I become famous and obtain free tickets, will of course change mind 😄
  10. They’ve had 50+ years to perfect it, but my god the festival gets nearly everything right. Even a gripe you have for a year - good chance it’s solved next festival. Hats off to everyone involved with basically making me have the best week of my life every single year.
  11. Imagine Duran Duran would headline right? Would be a great Sunday legend booking, though. Might be controversial, and would probably be too many people on stage at any one time, but Hans Zimmer would be a nice way to spend an afternoon. People might think movie music is cheesy, but he’s a legendary composer in his own right. Makes you realise booking Glastonbury is not that easy…
  12. Probably not something to be mentioned on a forum. But a few years back my dad was dying of cancer (I was only 23). I spent three months at his bedside in hospital but went to Glastonbury at his insistence. Honestly, the only 5 days that terrible summer where I sort of didn’t think of it too much and, in a weird way, was just back to being happy (albeit briefly). i owe the place a lot and the people I meet there. Can’t really put it into words and people think I am a bit obsessed, but it’s incredibly special to me.
  13. Considering how happy the festival makes me and how important it is to me, I’d probably pay a grand. But, I think that comes at a cost of the crowd. To be honest, it’s the niceness of the crowd which has been the appeal the older I get.

    Third world

What a treat to walk past! Stayed for the rest of the set!
  15. I cried during Your Song. Something about that moment got me. I cry 4/5 times in the week after Glastonbury - the blues!
  16. Run the Jewels headlining Other surely after the success of the last album - for some reason, just think the intensity of their music is best performed in the dark? Would take them and Justice and Other headliners any day. Dua Lipa, Pulp, Taylor for Pyramid.
  17. Really enjoyed the Astley/Blossoms set. Overwhelming sense was he should lead The Smiths so we no longer need Morrissey in our lives 😄
  18. Mid 2010s. Just young wippers back in the 90s 😄
  19. Thought he was amazing. A brilliant crowd and someone who knew the importance of the gig to them - not all headliners get it (see Bruce Springsteen). Really don't know what more people want. Some of the most popular songs ever produced performed to 100,000 people having the time of their lives.
  20. I do wonder with all these hospitality tickets I discovered this year how much the general punter is willing to pay for a ticket. As much as it is expensive, I do think around the £350 mark is a relative bargain for what you get and the rules of the festival allowing you to save (alcohol, own food). What would you be willing to pay? I do wonder if the cost of living crisis will bite this year - there will be many more people with increased mortgages this ticket sale compared to a year ago. But maybe holidays are more affected than Glastonbury.
  21. I have had a few friends do the old taking wristband off - is that not really possible anymore? I also had a friend manage to just talk his way in - outrageous 😄 but he was Everest windows salesman of the year back in the day. I think crew bands are abused quite often.
  22. Talking to to lovely guys 1/2am outside the brothers bar on Saturday night, loved singing some pulp with me!
  23. Security in the south east corner (other than those who high five you as you go in) are, quite frankly, thugs. Two years in a row when they have tried very hard for one of my group to start a fight with them. First night in 2022 in NYC Downlow queue, some bearded nobhead was physically dragging random people out and threatening to cut their band. It is very obvious which stewards are people who have attended the festival and those third party security firms.
  24. Completely the same. The annual google of "permanent jobs at Glastonbury".
  25. I think Glastonbury is the most important thing for my mental health other than fishing. The happiness I feel there is pretty unrivaled elsewhere in my life. It isn't even the "partying" like it used to be when I was younger - I think it is simply being with thousands of lovely people (almost what society should be like). However, the 1/2 weeks after the festival I must say are probably the most depressed I will go through. I find it really hard to get back into normal life.
