  1. In theory which area can hold the most people? JP or Park? Because AM at the Park just sounds crazy dangerous to me. They are a proper headline band, if word got out or there wasn’t a strong alternative I could see it getting dangerous.
  2. There is more to back it up than what people are saying about Arcade Fire

    Paul McCartney

Are we expecting less songs for Glastonbury? I think with a few rogue ones shaved off this would be solid, but at the moment it’s near 40 songs and there are a few that would lose my attention. Maybe it will be fine.
  4. I also think (and just my view) that 2023’s headliners may be locked in, and they could potentially have started conversations for 2024 already. I can totally see Harry doing a surprise this year if he isn’t part of either of those conversations. If the earliest he can do it is 2025 then I can see his team pushing for a big surprise set, which will likely get just about as much coverage as a headliner post festival.
  5. Fair enough. I can’t see Jack White on the park being a serious crowd issue either. (Albeit well attended).
  6. I can see AM doing a secret set if they don’t plan to do festivals in 2023 / they aren’t in the frame for 2023. I do however doubt it, as (which is a shock to me and freaks me out a bit), the festival is next month and AM’s shows don’t look to start until late summer. I think it’s a bit too early for them to start playing, unless it’s a total one off. I really don’t know why Jack White wouldn’t have been on poster 1 if he was there. I feel like he’s someone who is either in the frame or not. Is he a secret set kinda guy?
  7. I don’t have a problem with it as it means I get to go elsewhere, but I do get grumbly if a band like Elbow is given a pretty large slot. I’m happy to see they aren’t a sub anymore… mainly because I think those kind of slots are best reserved for someone more exciting. If Glastonbury got into a position where they awarded friends of the festival the best slots every year and rested on these kind of relationships it wouldn’t be Glastonbury, and it would lose that excitement which causes 200k tickets being snapped up instantly. No problem with Elbow playing but I don’t want them to keep their big slot status for much longer.

I would honestly be surprised if they got annoyed about an April Fools joke. Unless @Gnomicidedid actually receive a formal slap on the wrist.
  9. Is there a reason why people are saying MCR? They’ve never played and this would be one of their first gigs since reuniting. Aren’t they out of Europe by then as well?
  10. The reason why I think Harry TBA works - Harry rumours popped up pretty much the same time we lost Aerosmith. After losing such a special guest I can see them at least trying to supplement with something else. - If Aerosmith we’re due to play third down pyramid on the Sunday, and Harry can only do the Friday. Him trading slots with Elbow (who we thought were Friday 2020) kinda makes sense. Would explain Elbow’s move to Sunday. Also when Zoe Ball asked him he was doing it he laughed and the interview cut. Never know he could have spoken about it and they’ve cut it out / saved it for future coverage. Also the Glasto Friday remains unfilled and vacant in his touring schedule. June is next month. Seems too late for another gig to pop up. Edit: I know that acts leave touring gaps, but a gap from Wednesday 22nd June in Dublin to Sunday 26th June in Germany is a weird gap. He’s playing somewhere on Glasto Friday. I’m feeling more and more confident about it.

I don’t think you realise how important your role is in keeping the excitement going all year round. The thingy has become a staple. A few in my group who have never been link me it all the time! I’m sure Glasto HQ considers you just as important.
  12. I’m going to say - pure hunch Friday Someone will open the other stage, but I reckon this will be in line with how it’s been in the past, not someone massive but a sizeable act playing an earlier set than they usually would. Don’t have a suggestion for who it could be, but maybe someone on the 2020 poster that is active and not on the 2022 poster…. Manics maybe? Friday pyramid as a TBA - Harry Styles. Saturday TBA third down other stage - Paolo TBA on the park Sunday TBA John peel either during Diana or just after her. - Maybe an Arcade Fire / Killers / The 1975 style band?
  13. Yeah they have a good relationship with the festival which keeps them in good slots, but I agree that many of us have seen them already and I personally feel like it’s a slot which could have gone to someone more exciting. But people like them and I think they will retain a healthy amount of Diana’s crowd. Yeah Sam Fender is popular but I think the chair crowd / people knackered will probably just stay.
  14. If you check JP there’s a TBA which should be on at the same time as Fender. Think Elbow, Fender, and a TBA in the JP will divide crowds nicely. Plus it looks like on the map there is more space in the other field this year.

    Arcade Fire

I think it was rather unfortunate for Lorde as Pure Heroine and Melodrama were cult classics. It wasn’t that people expected her to have a gigantic follow up sales wise, but something with similar cultural impact. I see Arcade Fire in similar situations. Funeral, Neon Bible, The Suburbs are special albums to a lot of people so expectation is high with Reflektor, Everything Now, WE etc. It’s also probably why Tranquility was divisive for AM fans.

    Arcade Fire

I don’t think it’s a term but it makes sense to me. I think solar power is a pretty unique release tbh
  20. Matt42

    Arcade Fire

Solar Powered doesn’t mean a bad album — but I think it’s created a new urban dictionary term for a divisive album that underperforms, and the diehard fan base thinks one day people will magically wake up and realise it’s genius… when they don’t seem that sure about the album’s quality either.
  21. Matt42

    Arcade Fire

How come it was fine for people to say this about solar power on here, but not cool when it’s a different artist? It’s just an observation.
  22. Is there going to be a week of nothing before the 24th? Feels like they are getting a lot out of the way
  23. Matt42

    Arcade Fire

I think this is my least favourite album of theirs. It’s their solar power. As in the die hard fans are trying to convince themselves it’s still good in denial.
