  1. Just from following festivals for ages, first time headliners usually means first time headlining. The press interprets it as you have, but it rarely ever means the first time at the festival unless it’s specifically stated that way.
  2. lol this is hilarious. Rihanna is never on standby. She’s either the first choice or not at all.

    Olivia Rodrigo

Lots of people on here having opinions on things they are very uninformed about. (Regarding how well Olivia’s debut and tour did)

    Taylor swift

I think a fair few people sided with Kanye when they had their spat… and it’s taken those people a while to be won over by her. Friends of mine who just don’t get her can’t move beyond her speak now / red era. They can’t get onboard with her growth.
  5. Dua locked in and trying for Madonna sounds like the most realistic outcome for me. If they don’t get Madonna then they may not have two female headliners. Emily’s comment was always a “this is what we are aiming for” rather than a promise of what we will get.
  6. Rihanna will have a 5 or so month old baby by the time the next festival takes place. She will not be playing.
  7. Dua Lipa, Madonna and Depeche Mode sounds plausible. Obviously a huge (?) whether they would succeed in bagging Madonna. I reckon this is what Emily inferred when saying “if all goes to plan we will have two female headliners” or along those lines. If Madonna doesn’t materialise I think we get a more leftfield option (akin to GNR) and it might not be a female headliner. It always read to me that two female headliners next year was the goal, but could easily not happen due to them not getting who they want.
  8. Don’t know the full details but there’s been some sort of fallout between their last set and not making it onto the 2020 bill. What I’ve heard is “they don’t expect to be asked again”. This was also the case for 2023 as well.
  9. They are not on good terms with the festival
  10. Things feel nice and open at the moment - but all with exciting names. Would love for it to be one of these: Prediction I’d put a bet on Dua Lipa, AC/DC, Taylor Swift Others Olivia Rodrigo, AC/DC, Taylor Swift And then some combination of Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Depeche Mode, AC/DC, Taylor Swift. Will be interesting to see if any of them drop off the radar in the next few months.

    Arctic Monkeys

The Friday between the Irish show and Glastonbury is probably needed for a reason. It probably takes that long to get the kit to worthy farm.

    Arctic Monkeys

If they cancel it will be Foos They will get someone like Wet Leg or Two Door Cinema Club whatever to backfill the Foos slot.
  13. What does Emily mean by first time headliner though? Because we’ve got caught in this interpretation before. If she means first time headliners it can be anyone. Just looks too strong for nowadays imo. Third downs don’t tend to be that big anymore. I’d say Lewis Capaldi is a bit of an outlier. Iggy Pop would sub I think. Tends to take very high up slots at festivals. Jorja would probably headline OS instead of sub it. Paramore would not play third down. Janelle Monae would be much much higher than that and I can’t see her coming back to the WH. After this summer I reckon Rosalia is either a smaller festival headliner or an other stage headliner.
  14. New music coming on Friday and new album in July apparently. If she releases an album in July and headlines Glastonbury the year after it’s pretty much the exact same timeline Billie had. (happier than ever came out July 2021). I honestly think Madonna is super super unlikely. If we are talking about artists who won’t get out of bed unless it’s for a certain fee, she really is one. I can’t see her deciding to be flexible on things now either. Depeche Mode maybe but we predict them a lot and there’s not really been any movement on it. We’ve also got a very good DM source linked with efests etc and there’s no indication they’ve signed up at all. Pretty sure we’d hear if they had.
  15. I agree no Taylor - can’t see her rehearsing a completely separate reduced show amongst the eras tour. It’s a completely different situation to a rock band doing glastonbury alongside a stadium tour. She performs with dancers and stage sets etc she will have to rehearse something completely extra on top of the full production of the eras tour. I can’t see it happening at all. If I had to predict right now I’d say Olivia Rodrigo, AC/DC, Dua Lipa.
  16. He’s the living stereotype of private school kid going to Bristol uni. He is the personification of the “rahh where’s my baccy” crowd. Of course, this means he’s extremely popular.
  17. Fred has gone from playing middle of the day at Coachella to closing out the mainstage in a space of one year. imo. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when he’s going to headline the pyramid.
  18. I would say for people my age (mid-20s) Channel Orange and Blond are up there are two of the most influential releases of the past decade. He’s not loved for his live reputation, but instead for the music he’s made and how timeless it is. Both albums are absolutely cracking. It’s such a shame he’s decided that the best way forward is to chuck a grenade at his career. I suspect it’s because he feels like there are no consequences to what he does, or if it makes him less famous it’s not a big bother.
  19. Franks headline set is literally a meme
  20. Watched it twice now. Rosalia looked absolutely incredible. Glastonbury have seriously seriously seriously missed a trick if she’s not there. What a performer!
  21. Yeah I also think people are watching the wrong bits and forming an opinion. Rosalia clearly popping and the crowd absolutely belting. Same with Bad Bunny, crowd absolutely belting every tune.
  22. Sadly it looks like the backing track too loud (at least with song one) also they muted the crowd for most of the set too.
  23. We debate this every year but for some reason American festivals mute the crowd, or set up the audience microphone very different to how we do in the UK / the BBC do it. Watch boygenius set, you can clearly hear the moments where they want you to hear the crowd and where they want you to hear the artist. The BBC set up their audio in a completely different way, they want the artist to be drowned out by cheers or whatever - it’s how we do things here. I think in the US they prefer to put the focus on the artist.

    Taylor swift

I agree that Getaway car is the only glaring omission so far but I won’t be surprised if she mixes up some of the eras setlists in the future.
  25. Think they are the type of act who could definitely be in play if they lose one of their first options.
