Just been taking a look back at messages from my group when we went in 2019, and looks like the 3rd announcement that year was mid-March...

That was with the previous owners though. Don't want to sound pessimistic but i wouldn't be surprised with the new lot if they just kept the lineup as it is.

Nail in the coffin was charging you to re-enter the festival and to use the showers for me. 9 years on the bounce and i'm out! Hopefully ill return one day 🙂

Scheduled 14th - 17th with some contractors who usually do it.

Yeah this is all i can seem to find on the festival. You aware of any announcements coming soon? First time going for a few of us so trying to convince people to commit is pretty hard going when theres bugger all info flying around!

Sofia Kourtesis, Joy Orbison, Ross From Friends, HAAI, Greentea Peng, Honey Dijon, Horse Meat Disco, Kokoroko, Norman Jay and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs would be on my list.

Enough to make the trip worthwhile.

Oh its good! Sofia Kourtesis, Kokoroko, Norman Jay and Horse Meat Disco (and probably a few others) were all there last year though. Sofia Kourtesis in particular was incredible, came out into the crowd multiple times which got everyone going on the final day!

Just expected maybe a few more big surprises? But yeah, one of my favourite festivals of the season, and one where the lineup really isn't as important as others that i go too!

this site has 2020 info, phase 3 at £119 so not awful for sure. 8 can campsite limit too as of then

Thats outdated - the first release this year were £200! Lost Village is one of those festivals that has about 50 different 'phases' to try and trick people into thinking its about to sell out. It goes up about £5 each release, and i think it was on the 6th phase before they took tickets off sale this week, roughly about £230?

Saying that it will sell out, however it usually sells out much nearer the time!

  5. Happy Mondays, Caribou and one final headliner left to announce....... weaker than last year?

Enjoyed it very much last year but due to Glastonbury being a couple of days after this i sadly cant return. Really intrigued to see how this sells as i imagine a fair amount of people only went last year as it was one of the first festivals back.

  6. Lineup drops this Wednesday at midday! One of the favourite poster drops of the season for me personally, always a few nice surprises in there.

Hoping for Django Django to return after being dropped from last years festival. Someone like Hot Chip, Chemical Brothers, MGMT, Primal Scream, Groove Armada, Foals, The Streets for a standout headliner would be nice. Love bouncing around the stages aimlessly in the day checking out the electronic acts but its nice to have a larger name act in the evening to look forward too!

I was wondering whether you’d considered Beautiful Days? I am going to Bearded this year having done Beautiful Days a couple of times and people who have experienced both say they are virtually twins. Beautiful Days is in August which you say is quiet for you, so I think it’d be an option worth considering. It’s a fantastic festival.

Looks a great festival but unfortunately the 4+ hour drive is a bit too much. Both Bearded and Wilderness are within 2 hours which is much more manageable driving alone!

I think it's been the case for the last couple of editions but obviously there's no guarantees it'll be the same each year. It's so small, comparatively, they seemed to manage campsites with the existing security overnight and there didn't seem to be a particularly large amount of coming or going.

There were a couple of steward shifts in the late night area I've just remembered that were on until 1/2am, but I do think that was only about 4-6 people.

If you can't choose, do both!

Ahh okay. I've accepted ill be doing an overnight shift anyway, so if its the same this year it'll be a nice bonus!

Had a think today and its looking like Wilderness is probably my best bet, mainly due to the dates - have Primavera the week after Bearded and a relatively quite August - but also due to the festival seemingly being more suited to my tastes and age?

Haha if only i could afford the time off to do both!

Bearded Theory is one of 3 (the others being 2000 Trees and The Long Road) that are very likely to fill up in priority. Spaces may open up closer to the festival but I'd work on the assumption that it'll be full as the people applying for it are the experienced ones less likely to cancel. Wilderness should probably be much easier. A small caveat is that staffing levels could change from previous years for example if Bearded want more staff for COVID checks then it could be easier than it has in recent years.

The days they list are the standard arrival and departure days - ie arrive by late afternoon / early evening of the first day listed and all regular shifts will be finished by the morning of the last day listed. That's assuming you don't apply for early shifts. At Bearded there's also an option to apply for Leaving Day shifts which can run until 4pm Monday if you're successful.

Side note - Bearded does actually open to the public on the Wednesday afternoon this year, albeit just campsites, food stalls, and a bar for those who want to start early. I'll be on a ticket, but will likely head down then if the weather cooperates.

Wilderness is relatively small, about 250 stewards I think they told us this year. It hadn't filled up places by the time it started but I know they did in 2019.

I did wilderness this year and it was a lovely little festival, there were no overnight shifts so shifts were just 8-4 and 4-12. Food was also the most incredible crew catering, even the Oxfam staff said it was some of the best they'd ever had.

    Thanks both for the info.

@LeyrulionNo overnight shifts sounds good! Do you know if that happens every year, or did you just get lucky?

I think ill go for whichever has spaces left once normal applications open, however if both are available im not sure which way ill go....

  10. Haven't volunteered with Oxfam since Bestival 2014 (i think) but going to give it another go this summer.

Narrowed it down to two: Bearded Theory or Wilderness Festival

Anyone have any information on how hard it will be as a non-priority applicant to get a spot? I think i've read from here before that Bearded usually sells out on priority applications?

Also, are the dates that are listed on the individual festival pages on the Oxfam website the days we have to be on site? As both the festivals i'm interested in have Wednesday till the Monday, even though the festival doesn't open till the Thursdays for the punters?

I also bought my tickets two weeks ago, Lisbon/Barcelona/Lisbon with TAP. 150 € (for me and my wife), including one piece of checked luggage. Great deal. There is a risk? Yes, certainly. But is a risk that I would be able to afford.

Hotel is also booked with a total refundable rate, and tickets were bought in July 2019, so...it will feel like a "free" trip, since the most expensive part of the trip is already paid.

I did contemplate that route myself! Im sure there was an early morning flight from Barca that gave you like a 10 hour layover in Lisbon, more than enough time to have a mooch in the city.

I was starting to get worried about the trip to be honest, as when i last looked at direct flights i was getting prices of around £300, which would have sadly ended my hopes of going.

Cant wait to go now, been wanting to go for years but never managed it 🙂

  12. Just booked my flights - direct return for £170.

Just a heads up in case anyone else was having trouble, i noticed that Skyscanner doesn't bring up Girona or Reus even after selecting "Add nearby airports". Thankfully i had a play around on Ryanair as i had some vouchers for Christmas and noticed direct flights from Rues to Manchester.

Return flight is also at 21:35 from Reus, so got a full day of relaxing in the sun before heading home to the inevitable rain.

Flights and Accom now sorted - Excitement is starting to rise 🙂

    I have, a while ago.

I'm not sure of the exact number of places available but it'll be fairly low - the last few years it's been one of the first festivals to fill, and usually within an hour or so of priority applications opening.

Thought as much. Shame because its one ive wanted to give a go for ages.

Don't know who is headlining and who is not, just based on last year's poster and assuming Liam is returning.

    Lori Meyers
    Ginebras
    Circa Waves
    La La Love You
    The Hunna
    Joel Corry
    Zahara
    Tom Greenan
    Viva Suecia
    Miss Cafeina
    Izal
    Cariño
    Elyella
    Becky Hill
    Carolina Durante
    La Habitación Roja
    Sea Girls
    Declan McKenna
    Dorian
    La M.O.D.A.
    Tom Walker
    Lost Frequencies
    Love of Lesbian
    The Kooks
    Steve Aoki
    Two Door Cinema Club
    Kasabian

Im hoping none of these are headlining and they're being held back for the poster drop....

Two Door and Kasabian could be joint headliners for one night, i suppose?

They stole from a forum where we posted the list of artists. I guess FIB asked them to take it down but the list is sill on 🙂 Kasabian and TDCC will be headlining plus Liam, Armin Van Buuren, Aoki and so on. Similar to 2020.

Could you post the list in here.

Surely theres got to be a few more big names? Vampire weekend, Libertines are Foals were on the last poster.
