Someone recommended this festival to me, it's the first weekend of August in Portugal. The line-up has yet to be confirmed but a big one is promised for its 10th anniversary. I understand that a lot of the bands booked to play Benicassim go on to play there afterwards.

Has anyone been? Comments/suggestions welcome.

Can't find much info for it but it sounds quite interesting. It's 3rd to 6th of August. Various sites seem to say the Prodigy are playing, its 70 euros with camping and tickets went on sale in febuary.

Last years line up was almost the same as Benicassim, but Benicassim has changed dates so could be different this year. I spoke to a guy from Portugal about this last year and he said it was good, but I forgot what it was called!

Anyone been?

I missed it last year:(

Placed in a quiet area reachable by car or a mix of train and coach the only thing you might regret is not having more time to stay after the festival is finished.
Try : http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Po...bujeira_do_Mar/ . Zambujeira do mar is the closest village and bursts with action (eat and drink action:) during this festival). The organization provides free transport from the festival site to Zambujeira ( 3 to 5km away).
The bands are important for sure but the spirit counts much more than you could think. Could you vibrate with Portishead live?? I hardly could but they did it in 98 there!! Just because the spirit counts.
In the official website ( http://www.musicanoc...t_sudoeste.html ) no surprising names pop-up... for now. But man oh man... go for the vibes and the oportunity to check a fantastic experince: go for the music, go for the girls, go for the drugs, go for whatever you want. The organization does it for the business of course but there they will not rape your bank account like here (UK).

I'll be there this year.
If you're going and need some extra tips just let me know:)

This is the biggest summer festival in Portugal... It happens in Alentejo a great place for anyone, any age, any culture to visit... So I would advise anyone to come and join us this year...

It is the 10th aniversary of the festival and the organization promises a great one... If you compare it to some european festival you will get a bit disapointed... But if you compare the price you can uderstand the diferences...
So, resuming... Some good music, good people, good mood, and great places to visit, makes sudoeste summer festival a great one to go... for sure...

Hope to see some of you there!!! ;)
