One year Smashing pumpkins played sub-headline to The XX, despite being the higher profile act, not sure if that counts.
-
BBC news had the lineup announcement on the front page, also.

Honestly unrelenting sunshine can be a bit much. Give me 2017 weather, drizzly mornings that let you sleep in, clouds breaking up in the warmth of the afternoon sun til you get one of those amazing sunsets that feels like the world is painted golden and brighter than anywhere else on the planet, reflected in the faces of thousands of happy people having the time of their lives. That'll do me, please and thank you mrs weather god.

I'm a bit partial to Baxter Dury.

That twitter poll with 13% saying they're giving up their ticket has to be massively influenced by people without tickets. I cannot for a moment believe that 1 in 8 would throw their ticket back on the strength (or lack) of the lineup announcement. I reckon there's a higher percentage than that of people who go who don't give two shits about the lineup because they are all about the nightlife.

I'm still happy with the lineup so far, just hoping it doesn't end up being like 2022 for me, where the Friday was so stacked with acts I want to see I had to miss loads due to clashes, then the rest of the weekend being a bit sparse. I always take the view that as long as I've got 3-5 acts a day I'd like to see, with a decent headliner to end the night, I'm happy.

Bring back the silent discos, always used to be a decent draw on Thursdays and there being more than one location was a big help. Having acts play on Thursdays was always an issue, I remember the carnage of Maximo Park in 2009, felt like the entire festival turned up.

I enjoyed the 2 performances from Jordan they put out to promote it. The most recent album did nothing for me. I was surprised when I looked at the sales of their records, neither of their last 2 albums went platinum, it really does feel like the majority of their success these days is about the quality of their live performances.

That has to be the glade then, right?

This is my take as well, I don't really care about heritage acts and there's a few names on the bill that I've had to miss through clashes when they've played in the past that I've got the chance to see this year. All in all not a bad lineup for my taste so far. Be interested to see what gets added to the wider bill.

Personally I'm not really understanding the negativity, as it's a perfectly reasonable first batch of artists released and at least for myself there is a headliner every evening that I'm really looking forward to. Last year I had to throw my ticket back in due to finances and it's going to be close again this year, but on the strength of what I'm seeing I'll be pinching those pennies to ensure I'm back in the fields come June.

Well, it is certainly not one of the bog standard fakes that's been doing the rounds. Curiouser and curiouser. Thanks for sharing.

This is about the level of reliability for me as well. I had it in my head that Thursday was most likely, the fact that the page has updated to redirect to 2014 since I originally looked has me thinking this evening now for no other reason than blind hope.

My son just messaged to point out that this page shows 2022 poster image but has the graphic in place at the top of the page for 2024 https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up/2024/

Coldplay played on Sunday in 2016.

I'd hope for Taytay, she had already agreed to headline the cancelled festival, and it would be a massive booking if they pulled it off at this stage in her career.

Foals, Other, Pyramid, Park Ash, Other, Pyramid, Greenpeace Coldplay, New bands tent, Other, Pyramid * 2

It used to be a rite of passage, 5 scruffy students in a mini piled so tight with bags and kit that you could barely see out the windows, piling out of the car on arrival sweating like a pig and realising that one mate you can never rely on forgot their tent so you'll be putting up with their snoring at close range for the next few days.

Absolutely. I'm an old bugger and the first thing I did when her name came up was give her a listen, get to know the material. I was kind of chuffed that my son messaged me with one of her songs linked as a banger the same day, and if you look at this thread it's gone from a couple of pages to triple that in a couple of days as clearly the readership of efests is doing exactly the same. Even if she ends up being lower down the bill then this discussion has at least introduced people to someone they'd not taken the time with previously. I have long used this forum and her users as a way to find new and exciting music, I value the opinions and tastes that are shared and am entertained and informed by the posts along the way.

Just picked one of those beds up on the millets site, they are doing 2 for £30 offer with a camping chair.

Like Friday night 2013, an absolute smorgasbord of fantastic gigs all over the site. I didn't get to attend last year, so just like the Cure in 2019, that PSB gig was a great memory of my last gig on the farm to tide me over until I get back. I have a feeling that we'll have more than one night like that this year, based on the whispers on the wind about who is likely to play.

I reckon middle of the month.

New Names Who'll (Hopefully) Smash The f**k Out Of G24
Spindles replied to CaledonianGonzo's topic in Chat
I'll definitely be feeding them into my listening, VERY Kid Kapichi and will fit in nicely with playlists of similar genre artists for me. -
Something like the brits is hardly the best example of an artist, in my opinion. I've always thought this tiny desk from the lockdown was a good showcase of Dua live.

They absolutely rammed that field, the sunset was amazing and the atmosphere in that body of dancing, happy people was 100% what I go to the farm for. Bonus Other stage 2015 set opener (trigger warning, this is wholesome as f**k):
