Question about setting up festival

Hi people, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of setting up the festival and where to camp?

A couple of us have the opportunity to help set up the festival (camp site will be slightly off site) but wondered if anyone has set up a tent on the Tuesday night in the normal fields as we finish work on Tuesday and would like to set up a few tents for our friends - no where special and not looking for the perfect place, it just we will be driving and able to take some stuff early for friends who have a bad back.

Is this possible or is it frowned upon?

Thanks in advance

It's officially not permitted for crew to pitch tents in the punter areas prior to opening.  However I have seen a few people doing it and (presumably) getting away with it.

My advice would be to wait for Wednesday morning.  If you are nifty you can easily beat the masses to any spot, and no-one would be any the wiser really.

What whateverman said.

The festival license doesn't allow for camping in the public areas until it opens on Wed.  If you are unlucky, some security dude (or indeed, some zone manager) will tell you off.  If you are just taking tents, and you have EPO bands (which you should have if you are working and staying off site), you should be able to zoom past the queue on Wed AM .  Be aware though - official opening time is at 8am, but it has been known for the site to open earlier (or later) than this, so you may need to do some hanging about.
